This might be possible with Fireworks batch processing. Try looking for an extension that adds a watermark on adobe exchange ;)

You can do it by setting up an action in Photoshop (paste, align, tweak opacity etc), then running it as a batch (File>Automate>Batch) on a directory with your 5000 images in it. I'm sure there's some purpose built watermarking software that can do it though...

I looked at that ETC and it seems to be "Instant Gallery Maker" now. I'm thinking about downloading it...do you know if this new version is suited for mrmax's needs mentioned above?

Use a program called watermark factory - http://www.watermarkfactory.com/

They have a version for videos and a version for images. This is commercial grade software and it cost around $49 - and its on sale right now. Its usually $69. But you can bulk watermark images with no problems.

I have the video version of watermark factory and its very cool.

I would use photoshop Batch processing. Fireworks has it too. As well as there are many free programs out there that can do this, but they are more limited as compared to the capibilites photoshop has. If your planning on letting people upload pictures and want them autmaticaly watermarked instantly, you can use code to add a water mark to an image.

That explains how to make the action to tell photoshop to add the watermark, but you still need to apply that action to your 5000 images.
    Watch this video tutorial:
    http://www.designshard.com/video-tutorials/photoshop-batch-processing-of-actions-video-tutorial/

It explains both steps (the action, and then the batch), just add a watermark instead of what he does.
The batch part starts at 4:07

    Hoep that helps!
