Q. For those who live in London about shoes

If you live in London, I've got a question about shoes.

I've been contacted by a 15 year old homeless boy (on our homeless forum) who happens to need some new shoes. I could just direct him to a charity and get some 2nd hand shoes for him, but have an idea I want to try and locate a sporting store or department store PR person and get them to give him some new nike shoes or something.

The point of the exercise is to use a non traditional approach, get him to meet a member of the public who he would not usually ever have contact with that shows generosity, to change his paradigm. Look at it like a birthday present or whatever.

Anyway, I need to know, what sporting stores there are in London or department stores, that I could probably contact their PR person via email and make the request.

I know this is kinda weird, but if you keep people in their institutionalised little cocoon, they tend to not know much else. So want to have a break out kinda experience to give them a different perspective.

Post your suggestion of the company name in this thread, or if you feel like going into town and shouting the kid a pair of shoes, PM me and we will talk about it.

 

I think this is a great idea Dominic as the sports store will gain a lot of good publicity for very little expence and the homeless fella will feel a part of the community. i wish you luck with this little project and I'm sure you will succeed.

 

I wasn't planning to give them any exposure for it, just sending the kid in to ask for Mr. Blogs, and get fitted with some shoes. Mr. Blogs could then share some lunch with him if he wanted ... other than that, it sure isn't going to be worth it for the kid if they get put on show / photographed / etc.

 

He can have some of mine. Everyone's always telling me I have too many. He wouldn't have any objections to donning some sexy high heeled Manolo Blahniks would he.

 

Would I be in trouble if I said maybe there would be quite a few girls on the street who would love to wear some shoes just like that to work, probably some trannies too!!
