The meaning of Forums is quantity of members not quality of member. First accept Quantities from members to grow the list. Give room for quantity for frequent participation. Members will choose Quality posts from quantity of posts. Quality will born from Quantity!

Thanks! Hope you allow your forum members "freedom of postings" to produce quality postings when they learn everything after frequent visits to your site.

    Regards!

You need to set the desired tone of your forum from the offset. Lead by example. If you are wanting a resource forum promote that from the start but also provide a general discussion area to help develop a sense of 'community'.
Don't let the spiders crawl the general area and you and your members will have the best of both worlds - a great resource to participate in and a less formal area to socialize :)

Which bit didn't you get exactly?

I agree with what he said, well at least I think it is a good point and will create an even balance.

    IMO
    Quality > Quantity
But for starting forum you must have both :)

Mella, I mean dont let the spider crawl the general section. and what does he/she means with the desired tone? I think we already have that in the form of forum currency exchanger and other webmaster trading facilities.

I think with The desired tone, he/she meant when you start out a forum from scratch you should make clear what it's about from the start etc. Hahah I know what he means but I can't really explain it.

Ah..I wasn't too sure on the spider bit either, actually. I didn't know you could stop spiders crawling certain forum sections? Unless you make that section not open to the public. Idk...

Maybe he/she will come back and explain what they meant. :)

LOL now MG dont let it go to your head.

I honestly think that both Quanity and Quality are important and that should have been an option in the poll. Without both you do not have a great forum. The more visible the forum is the better for whatever reason that may be. When I first came to DP last year I never thought I would get this involved here, but I kept reading, learning and laughing at some of the posts that are made here everyday. It is the diversity of the forums that makes it great and the quality posts will come with the quantity. DP started out like others and was able to grow through the use of both styles and the people who came here. Thank god for the diversity we have here.

    Agreed.

    Starting off...

You need quantity so your forum appears active and worthy of consideration. No one wants to eat at an empty restuarant. It doesn't give a good impression.

You need quality because once they start reading and/or join up quality is what will keep them coming back again and again. :)
