Question about the best way to go.

I just registered a site, to be a humor site. I saw a pckage that basically is a ready to go site for $35.00. (Can I post the link to it?)

My question is, is it worth buying or should I build from scratch, as I don't know web programming that well. (I learnt VB, C++) 5 years ago in college, but haven't used it much. Point being, I could learn ASP, but it would take a while to get the site up.

    Thank

Its allowed to post the link :)

Hmz. I always like just open source CMS systems. Perhaps you would like to try one as well? It kickstarts you, gives you lots of options, often also things to wonder about that you wouldnt have thought about yourself, and still makes you familiar with coding as you definately always like to fine tune it later.

Using open source would still take me some time, where as this package is ready to go. I'm lazy, but if there are some major drawbacks, then I'll do it myself.

If you are starting to make a humour site?

    How about this:

Get a turnkey installed with loads of jokes.
It has admin panel and everything too to create catergories and jokes and pictures.

Then change the design a bit and you are all set.

That's what I was looking at, are there any drawback to going this route?

    Whats your msn?

    Could show you some demos.

    It has everything automated.

Since I am in the same boat as you I would say that buying a ready to go site would be a plus. You can always change the site to meet more of your business needs .
