Questions about pdf flyer design

    I am wanting to get into designing flyers in pdf format. What is the software to use to design something like http://www.traffictent.com/Bank.pdf ? Is this type thing hard to design and or edit? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    There is no such thing a design in pdf format. You design firstly with what program you want (GIMP, ADOBE, ETC)

    Then you convert it to pdf from image file which is probably (jpeg, png etc).

    Search @ a search engine, convert image to pdf format.

    Do that with any program ( for example word) you then should use a post script printer and convert it to pdf.

    pm me for more infot if you do not know where o find a post scipt printer.

    Have a look at Publish-iT PRO - a desktop publishing program where you can save your file in pdf format.
    I've used the program for several years without a problem.

    Adobe InDesign is excellent for PDF/flyer/brochure design. It has a simple 'export to PDF' function, with lots of PDF settings and presets. I do all my print and PDF work using InDesign, it's one of my favourite applications.

    If you want a povo option, you can try OpenOffice.org (it's free) - it has an export to PDF function too. But the design features are very very basic.

    Any adobe graphics programf should be able to save as a pdf. I know for sure that photoshop and illustrator have that feature, so you could use those two to make the image, then save as a pdf. in my previous trials with this, with illustrator you, if you were doing MULTI page pdfs, you'd need to setup some stuff, other than just save as pdf. http://www.lifeclever.com/how-to-create-multi-page-pdfs-in-illustrator-cs2/

    Be careful with Photoshop PDFs too, they can be very large if you forget to flatten them. If you need help getting started, I'm a graphic design student at university and can do with all the drinking money I can get! Give me a shout over PM :)

    I'm still using adobe (macromedia) freehand. I think the best tool to get started is to use what ever tool you feel most comfortable and then just "print or convert to pdf", and for that here are several free tools available.

    If and when you get more serious about doing it as business etc. You should consider adobe illustrator.
