Recommended CMS ? Company websites, experienced HTML but newbie in CMS

    I'm quite familiar with HTML and did some site designs and programming (PHP/JSP)
    but am not familiar with CMS

    What do you recommend : Joomla/Mambo ? or Postnuke ? or other systems ?

    I would be creating mainly Corporate profile sites
    - Homepage
    - Corporate profiles
    - news and events
    - contact us
    - shopping carts ? (Or I could use OsCommerce)

    Criterias
    - quickstarter
    - good features
    - open source
    - templates freely and widely available
    - adsense or banner plug-ins a plus
    - image gallery /integration with other tools

    Do you recommend Postnuke ? Joomla ? Mambo ? some of the newer CMS ?

    Try http://opensourcecms.com, and you can play with a lot of CMS there. IMHO Joomla and Drupal are good. Not many people will recommend Postnuke.

    Corporate Homepage - any contents including static pages; FAQ and others.
    Corporate Profiles - either use Contact or use Static page to create profile
    News - come with Newsflash; Latest News; etc..
    Events - add on module available to add Event
    Contact us - multiple contact profile can be setup
    Shopping Cart - add on module VirtueMart (http://www.virtuemart.net)

    To meet your criterias
    Quickstarter - with PHP and MySQL in place, 15 min max to setup
    Lots of add-on-modules available around the world, minimual charge or FOC
    Joomla is OpenSource
    Templates can be freely download or purchase special designs at minimual charge
    Google AdSense module available for download
    Banner already build in
    Image Gallery intergration module available for download..

    Also one question, i want to re-design my site and change the concept, do i need to set my cms to offline mode, or just leave it open like that ?? Which is the best ??

    Interesting products! Noted the Re-Design annocement..
    When we re-design our site, we just create another template/s and assign that to pages one by one. We didn't take down the site.
