    Hello Everyone,

I've been wondering if the web or web design itself ever fell through, what would my next career be. Have any of you ever thought about this lol? Anyways, I'm just wanting to get some back up plans so IF my web design business falls then what else could I do that relates to web design and that I would enjoy like I do web design / websites. Anyone have any ideas? Please share any backup plans you may have as well if you'd like.

    Thanks!

What about doing User Interface Design for software programs? I've seen a bunch of jobs that want people who are good at screen design, even if they don't do the programming for it themselves. It's definitely similar to creating websites...

Also, since many companies create intranet software for their own employees/clients, so you could always still create websites for a company.

    Thanks,
    Jessica

Well here's the thing, as long as company's need websites and as long as other content websites such as ign or myspace for example are around for years to come, then my job is safe as I'll continue to do it on my own for others and myself.

My only reason I would go to another job is if the internet fell through, we no longer need websites or the market is no longer profitable, hopefully this doesn't happen though lol.

Very true. Well, if that ever happened, why not just pick a language and design/create software in that language?

As long as there are computers, people will need to design software for them.

If you want to come up with something totally different: After creating websites and marketing them, etc, you can do a lot. Marketing careers since you now know a lot of ways to market something, Project Manager type jobs since if you've created a website you've gone through design, programming, testing, etc. It really is incredible how many things you learn when creating websites...

    Thanks,
    Jessica

That's what I was thinking, was getting into the marketing field or stay in the design field because what you said is very true, you learn a lot from a website, you learn how to design and market.

PS. I just noticed you're on sitepoint as well lol, I just left that place and plan to stick to this place.
