Reporting Fraudulent Click Activity @ YSM

Not sure how to handle but I’ll present to the group here, maybe someone from Yahoo will respond since it takes about 10 business days for YSM to do an investigation. (Btw, I did file a click report with yahoo)

Background: Campaign use regional targeting, the IP address range in question is outside the regional boundary. How they could view the ad is in question as well.

What are my options to prevent this type of repeated clicks? Should I pause campaign? I'm a gold user with YSM.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I don't think there is much you can do about this, other than send them the logs at the end of the month and they should refund the money, if the traffic is mainly coming from a domain other than yahoo than you can block that site.

I would call them up just to check that it is not a set up problem with how you have configured the campaign, and also to see if they can speed up the click report.

    Hey guys!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm starting to pull server logs and do a detailed review. I started reviewing Feb 2008 log data and is not looking good. I will reconcile with YSM billing report to determine if they did or did not charge, not sure how their "Click Protection System" missed the suspicious click activity and still charged me.

"If the data points indicate click fraud, our Click Protection System software marks the identified click in our billing system, and the advertiser is not charged for it. However, the advertiser still receives the click through and we are therefore unable to remove the click from the advertiser's own Web logs. That is, you still get the traffic but you are not charged for it."
