reputation abuse case.

hi y'all!


am fairly new to this forum, ive been a silent unregistered lurker for years looking for relevant threads for my specific issues at hand.

am not really familiar with reputations, i think i have a small case of abuse. it is really petty not really a big deal but i think a thread of this kind should be posted and discussed openly so as to avoid any possible abuse.

i was accused of ".. going around giving negative reps..." theres this one member here who went really out of his/her way to give me a red reputation.. again, i havent given anyone a red rep vote. i can only remember one good reputation vote simply because i lilke the way the member answered and helped with one thread.

i cant pinpoint who the member as i have no access to who the rep vote came from. if this is the normal case, how can this accuser pinpoint that it is me who gave him/her the red rep?

any similar story? comments? are you the one who gave me the red rep? hehe

 

Ok, now that I'm done laughing my ass off... I was thinking the exact same thing in my head as I was scrolling down, then I saw the picture.

Come on Fryman, give the guy a break. He doesn't know. I'm assuming he or she is a he anyway.

 

Dont worry about it. I get red for no reason myself. I think everyone does. There is no way of tracking it so the best option is to just get over it.

 

Starting a thread about rep is the fastest way to get more negative rep - leave sleeping dogs lay ... anyone worried about rep should simply disable it IMO.

I not only got red rep with no reason, but often for ridiculous ones.
A few days ago I got one for not recognizing the make of a rare care, a Noble I learned in the mean time.

Usually reds are also anonymous, so you have to just take it.

But remember that it's not the points that counts, but the way other members know you.

After all, there's some great people in here, but it's open to everyone, so you also get some idiots roaming in the forum.

There's a few that appear to do what they can to get red repped, another one, a wacko, actually Da King of da Wackos, tries to get reds, but all he gets is greens.

So you can see it more as a game than as if it was the Adsense earnings control panel!

 

yes i got a few reds. from this thread alone. but i got more green ones from good and nice people too!

i thought of deleting this thread in order to avoid all the possible reds for "bitching" hehe but posts from all ye people who made comments is to be considered. thank you!

Isn't it weird that people worry about their reputation in this forum more than the traffic and referrals they get?

In what context are you talking about referrals? I tried searching the board, but the term can be used for so many different things these days. The referrals in inviting others to join DP? Referrals for AdSense? Referrals for some other affliate program? Maybe something else I don't know about here at DP (and every day there's something else I realize about DP - I don't utilize this place nearly as much as I should)

 

No, I just meant people being referred to a link in your sig or your blog from reading the posts.

ie. The traffic you get from DP on your Made for Adsense blog.

 

I know I've clicked that blog a few times. I disagree with some of the analysis - way to kind to obvious adsense sites; but lets me know what some people consider MFA sites.

 

Have you contacted a lawyer about this? I'm thinking you could probably get some serious cash in a settlement.

One day that Shawn makes all reps show who gave them, even the old ones. Then all the people hiding behind ridiculous reps without leaving their name would run and hide

Not that it would ever happen but it would be fun to watch and see who has been stabbing who in the back
