Restaurant Web Site Management Script???

Discussion in 'Content Management' started by Mia, Apr 22, 2008.

Can anyone recommend a script or content management system that can be used for a bar/restaurant. The site is relatively static except for things like the menu, specials, and coupons all of which changes periodically. Something preferably open source and easy for the end user to manage.

Would be nice if it had a gallery capability too where they could upload pics/videos, etc.

    Thanks!

Joomla. It's very easy to manage and it's free. WWW.JOOMLA.COM it's a great CMS and thousands use it. It also has a lot of plugins and themes that you can use.

Why not Wordpress? Less complicated than Joomla...no big fuss... see a Wordpress review here (with videos).

Again, not the right fit.. Anyway, I found a place near me that writes PHP apps and found a really nice one that will work perfectly. So instead of re-inventing the wheel, I will just purchase the app.

Drupal will best fit you. They have many modules for media gallery.
I will suggest you to try Drupal 5, as it has many modules. Drupal 6 still lacks many modules.

Unfortunately it does not offer any type of menu script. I need something that allows the customer to create/edit a menu, drink and food specials, etc. Drupla and Joomla just do not seem to fit the bill here.. Thanks anyway!

You can do this in Drupal. You need a module that will let registered customers to place a order.

Now, go to Admin panel -> permission -> allow registered user to edit own order.

I don't need an ordering system. I need a menu. Anyway, Like I said, I already found a script specifically designed for such a purpose. Thanks again.

    Mia,

Could you post or PM who you are getting your script from? I'm interested in the same thing especially if it can be customized to handle different combinations of Pizza, etc.

    thanks!:)
