    Advertising (learn more)

    Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

    Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

Retarded adsense question, might help other retards too ;)

    Alright, you came to this post saying whats this about.

    Situation

    Let's say that I got content on my page, and I lay it out this way:

    Content:Cars

    AdSense Ad Unit

    Content:Web Hosting

    My Question

    Would the adsense Ad Unit display ads about cars or web hosting or both?

    My opinion

    I wonder if it parses whats before, or whats after.

    My Theory

    It probably takes the content before itself, not after itself.

    It's context, that MediaPartners is after. The upper as could have hosting ads, and the lower ad may have auto ads, or vice-versa.

    Usually it's better to sorround the ad with the relevant content.

    The name of the URL (the path) is also very important for the content of the ads.

    To implement section targeting, you'll need to add a set of special HTML comment tags to your code. These tags will mark the beginning and end of whichever section(s) you'd like to emphasize or de-emphasize for ad targeting.

    The HTML tags to emphasize a page section take the following format:

    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->

    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

    You can also designate sections you'd like to have ignored by adding a (weight=ignore) to the starting tag:

    <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

    With these tags added to your HTML code, your final code may look like the following:

    <html><head><title>Section targeting</title></head>
    <body>
    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->

    This is the text of your web page. Most of your content resides here.

    <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
    </body>
    </html>

    I think it may show more webhosting ads considering they pay high as compared to others. Ofcourse content is the most important factor though

    I find the content above the ads gets more weight then the content below and to the side. That would make sense as Ken Envoy would say your "preselling" the ads.
