Return Christmas Trees After Christmas?

I woke up early the day after Christmas and decided to go to Walmart for some discounted Christmas lights. As I was walking in, I couldn’t help but notice there were two people in the return line with Christmas trees. Are you kidding me? Returning Christmas trees the day after Christmas? Just seems a little fishy to me.

 

did it have tinsel hanging from the branches?

I'm sure walmart will laugh at them. Most companies who sell decorations will say no returns of decorations after christmas (exchanges for damages only). You always get those types.

 

walmart takes everything back....unfortunately people abuse the system...its just like girls who take back their prom dresses the next day

 

As the old adage goes... It takes all kinds of people to make the world go round.

But, I must agree it's more then a little fishy and yes WalMart will probably take the refund.

 

I agree Wal-mart refunds everything..my mother return a coffee pot after having it a year, duh! I didn't put my tree up this year but i was shopping at the Dollar Store on christmas eve..the lady offer me the store tree for $5.00..which i reply and told her i will pay you $3.00 and she rung it up..nice tree with all the ornaments on it. I know i'm sometimes a cheap-O-

I just wonder how much time and energy they spent returning the tree. How much gas they used, and how long they stood in line.

Is it worth the effort. I believe in 'what comes around goes around' and this seems like bad karma to me.

If they spent the time and energy it took earning money in a legit manner they'd be ahead of the game.

I am also amazed by people that spend 1 hr.+ in a line up at a gas station to save a few bucks on a fill-up, but never see the gas they burn while waiting.

 

yeah or like people driving 20 minutes to get gas thats .03 cheaper per gallon lol

 

exactly, returning christmas trees? they shouldn't get refunds. yes, many people are taking advantage of the system

 

maybe the return them, to buy tham back off the discount rack...

 

Aren't artificial trees reusible? I don't get it. They're going to get another one next year?

Well, if they're entitled to return them and get refunds then why not?

Not everyone can afford the price of an xmas tree just to throw it away, I'd try it on if I needed the money and had some time to kill. I'd only do it to Walmart though and similar larger stores.

 

Shopping at walmart is like walking into an alternate reality sometimes. Run by mobs of uncivilized kids going in 18 directions at once and opened packages of grapes scattered on shelves as far as the eye can see.

 

I don't think I've been in a Wal-Mart since I was in college.

You don't throw away fake trees.

 

We're trying to run a society here. Common courtesy and sense tells you that you should not use something, then return it later on.

Plastic trees keep. they won't die in the attic or in the garage all year. Its a wonder of the industrial age.

 

Since when could poor people afford to care about courtesy

I just don't think there's much wrong with taking them back to a billion-dollar company if you're completely broke. Especially if it's well within their rights to do so.

 

Years and years and years ago, I worked in the hardware department at Sears. One fine Sunday - which was the busiest day of the week in Searsland, this little old lady slowly made her way to me and stated she wanted to return some hooks. Don't ask me what kind, I can't remember. I worked there late 70s - early 80s.

Sears, at the time anyway, was reknowned for taking back anything. This woman handed me a package of hooks - the likes I have never seen before. Her refund total was like .32 cents including tax.

And when were they bought maam?
My husband bought those in the '50s, young lady.

Damn things were older than I was. Probably could have gotten more for them on ebay if she held on to them - never were opened and perfect condition too.
