Revealing my little adsense secret...

Hee is my little secret that might help you:
I've realized that even a little half banner in the right place can generate more clicks than a side skyscraper.
I've inserted the half banner into the menu and it looks just like an item from the menu. You can see here http://hyipbest.com

With this little adsense block my ctr is sometimes as high as 15%-20%

How long ago did you make the change?

I've found that almost any change has a positive effect in the short term (unless you constantly change things around- then change is the norm and "ad blindness" returns).

    Michael_Goldman, nice placement :)
I think, that don't even the size of ads matter but also number of them and if they're place close to each other or not.

I mean, most people think that if they place the biggest-sized ads with a max number of them on the site they will appropriately make more money.
    Nothing more misleading than this.

    Totally agree with that!

Yesterday I made a little tuning with my forums Google Ad (now visible as a simple post at the very bottom of each thread - it's similar to what Digitalpoint did with the Adlinks here), before it was a simple billboard just above quick reply table...

So far it's doing so great, that I wouldn't even expect.
I went from just a few cents (I mean really Cents ;/) to $X.YY  :D

But,... Now I have to face with my forums Users, who disagree with such idea, so probably I'll have to change it, so it won't irritate them and become more friendly :? :(

Thats some good ad placement, with some smaller letters it would look unrecognizable from the article links. Maybe it even does on some browsers.

I think google would say you are labelling the ad. "Best HYIP Programs"... against TOS.

That is true! The first thing I see is your labling the ads as "Best HYIP Programs" right above the ads. This can be interpreted by G that you are labling the ads other than "Sponsored links" and "advertisement"

If I were you I would remove it NOW!

Or you could also ad "best prooogram'' above the links of your own and leave the ad as it is but it should be better to remove the big bold text and putting up a smaller text i.e. such as above with the same font size of Ads by Google above each individual link.

The big bold text you have above your site's links and the adsense ad can be interpreted as an description for everything that is under that, therefor you would be labeling the adsense ad as well.

Remove the Big bold text description and put the same text above every individual link to get the same result but preventing the adsense ad being labeled.

    Just to be sure;)

Also, a "horizontal rule" could easily fix any confusion, since it separates the ad code from the rest of one's content. An alternative to using a horizontal rule line, is surrounding the adsense code with a divider tag using a subtle dashed or dotted border in between it and your content.

Sometimes blending too much can get you in trouble!

Ultimately, with smart pricing, you really don't want to 'trick' people into clicking links anyway. You want people who are in a 'shopping' mood to click your ads and convert... Site visitors who are only 'browsing' and unknowingly click an ad will just close the browser and drive you into smart pricing mode.

So would visitors coming from my site landing on the advertisers site by clicking the adsense ad and for instance not buying products or services result in smart pricing for me?

    Hmmm:confused:

That is what smart pricing is - reducing the payouts for accounts that are not converting well.

    Thanks for tips guys,
First of all, as for smart pricing, believe me all my site visitors are interested in the theme: high yield investing and lots of them buy advertisers products after they click ads, that's the reason why my clicks are so high.
Also I consider changing it a little.. I need to think about it, removing the bold line will give the site much less value, this is supposed to be a menu :)

thanks again, I've also spread some reputation to everyone who's post was useful :)

    Michael
