Review: Imagery+Adsense, Bewteen 2nd and 3rd posts, forum bottom

I thought I'd try incorporating images into the ads I run at the bottom of my forums and between my 2nd and third blog ads this week. I was wondering what people on here might think of the placement and how images are used with them.

    Example #1
http://www.goculver.com (scroll down to see the ad unit between the 2nd and third post).

    Example #2
    http://www.goculver.com/culvertalk/index.php?showtopic=232&st=110
The blog leaderboard over the top of an image of campers lined up.

What do you guys think? Do these attrack the eye in a good way or should I just ditch the images and stick with making my links seem like they are not in fact ads but links to neat content elsewhere on the site. I was thinking that the images might arrest the eye and cause someone to read what they might not otherwise. Thoughts?

I think you have nice ads placement there. Just needs little more blending the ad links are too light in color make them little more darker. Hopefully that will help.
EDIT: It is overserved that always use only one ad unit for adsense, that helps with CTR.

Do you mean that that the in between ad units are too light in color?

    or the forum ad units?

And do you mean that there are too many ads on my front blog page?

    Just clarifying. Thanks.

Yes the LargeRect box is just too light in color, to get any attention make links little darker.

Remove side ad unit, It is always better to have only one ad unit.
This results in good ctr and also CPM.
Tested already and all my sites have only one ad unit.

EDIT: It also depends on the layout of the site, for example www.bollyhome.com has two different layout and get a CTr of upto 15% some times low becuase of traffic.
For your layout just keep the largerect box with little dark links.
    Hope this helps.

Cool. I pulled off the left sidebar and darkened the links in the in between ad unit.

now just give this some time.
Let me know what happens with your CTR

EDIT: Can't you bring the ad little more on top? say just below the header??
This will be really good for CTR, as it is directly hits on eye for any visitor.
Now give me one green heee heee
