    Hi everyone,

Just wanted others to check a site I started a couple of weeks ago and tell me if there is anything else I can do to improve it. Ad placement, etc.

I know I need more content but it's a start.

    http://www.BeTechSmart.com

Anyways, thanks in advance for the input.

Is that a bad thing? How should it look like? This would not attract visitors?

Hmm, yes, I would spend more time adding content and less time worrying about ad placements, etc.

P.S. Your "New Red-Light District For The Internet?" post is throwing up all kinds of Adsense stop words, that's why you're getting PSAs on your front page.

I think your site looks very good. And, you are probably proud of the design. However; it does look exactly like a blog. Because of this, it lacks an identity; there is nothing that stands out that will make people want to come back. (In a blog, people know exactly where the content is and exactly where the ads are; therefore; they will ignore your ads). What are you offering your visitors? Why should they return? Finally, you have a newsletter sign-up with absolutely no reason for people to sign up. What will they get if they sign up. P.S. Your comment links don't stand out. I didn't know they were there. Congratulations on the pretty design...... Work on the personality of the site. Good Luck!

Your "be techsmart" title is barely visible because it's over a graphic once you click around, I think your header is broken.

    You need more color.

Won't Apple computers object to the apple logo?

Needs a lot more content but apart from that I think the appearance is great and the layout is good. But as people have said, it looks like a blog and therefore the CTR will be likely to be low...

Optimise the urls further. e.g. domain.com/category/article-title. Joomla's urls aren't exactly friendly to humans or search engines and that's even with SEF urls (at least I think you're using the SEF module).

As for ad placement... given the choice of words in some articles, you might want to try a different PPC program for those pages. If you know php, then it should be simple to do.

I'd remove 'get firefox for free'. Google probably won't like that label - it draws attention to the firefox referral ad.

As many others have pointed out, the choice of text colour isn't always good. Barely legible text.

Make a custom favicon.ico ... one that stands out and relates to your site, is part of the logo and people will associate it with your site whenever they see it.

    Good luck.

It is very blog like. I would have trouble hanging around your site for info due to lack of originality.

    content, content, content

well the first thing is the content...u need to add a lot more....
once a vistor comes and finds no content
chances are he will not come back

U got a good domain name...

also ur site hardly looks like a tech site....

I mean the layout is brillant...but the theme is not the best for a tech site.

Add some free articles to ur sit for some time....u can take them off once u write ur own
