    Hi Guys,

I would appreciate any comments on my website with regards to placement of adsense or how I could use it to more effect.

Currently I do not make much £££ from the adsense ads.

This could be because of such a small target audience. (or any other many factors i hope you'll bring to my attention!)

The website gets about 70-100 hits a day so maybe I should not expect it to make much money from adsense. It's not too much of a worry as I make a fair amount of ££ from other things on the website but it would obviously be nice to increase the money from adsense.

Most of the hits are from users typing in the address in browser. About 10,000 flyers go out each week with my address on them.

I get a lot of hits from google too.

    The website url is: http://www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk

The site is a student guide to Nottingham, a city in the UK.

Thanks in advance for you comments.

The adsense adverts make up a very small part of the page so it is not surprising they will get less attention than the other items.

Also you do not appear in googles first few pages for "nottingham student", if you could do this your traffic and adsense income would increase. Not sure your front page is very search engine friendly, there is a lot of space where the flash intro goes.

Oh dear. theres no doubt there a niche, but I dont think you are going to be taken seriously when a. there are sites like http://www.interstudent.co.uk/Topic74.html out there and b. searching "Nottingham Student" on google is fruitless oh and c. I really love the bit where you go on about "Respect Intellectual Property Rights" but have forgotten to replace "Yahoo!" with your own Domain/URL in more than two places, within your own terms and conditions. Plus you even give your address to where Yahoo lawyers can send their poison arrows...

    http://www.nottinghamstudent.co.uk/Termsandconditions.html
    http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/

Funniest thing I have seen today.

My advice? Find a proper web designer either on flat fee or % of sales, add a forum, build content, concentrate on providing a real service rather than making money from day one, get links, optimise your content properly, get visitors. Then the ££ should follow. Sounds too difficult? Well if it was easy we'd all be doing it... :)

Dave487 thanks for your comments. I particulary know what you mean about the search terms "nottingham student". Unfortunately these are very difficult terms - as they compete directly with two huge universities!! I come top ten for all the terms I am aiming for. ie "going out in nottingham" and many others.

Umbertide - Your comments are appreciated with re. to TOCS.

"Then the ££ should follow. Sounds too difficult? Well if it was easy we'd all be doing it... :)"

this is patronising though, especially as my site turns over about £250 per wk. Just no need.

"concentrate on providing a real service rather than making money from day one"

    over 100 pages of content!

and also this website made money before it was even on the web!!

    Nice design...

Tip for the buttons in your flash menu, edit each button and insert a key frame on the HIT part. Then draw a filled in white rectangular box around the words. This will make your buttons easier to click.

I do not see AdSense on first page at all. Is it my browser's problems or you have not placed it at all?
