[RQ tut] Hosting Website on own Server

    Hello .

    I have just created my website (using Wordpress) put that website in archive and want to upload it on host .. My friend give me some really good host which one i acces using Remote desktop Connection.

    I log in via RDP on host and gets really confused because i dont know what to do next, so i need to know where i should upload my site archive ?? How hard is to do that ? ..

    I used to upload websites on ftp using fillezilla it is very simple but now im stuck :( ...
    Also where point my DNS for my domain ? ..

    Im really sorry on my bad English ..

    First of all you should resolve the DNS issue, without too much trouble you could use a third party DNS manager, such as CloudFlare. Just set your nameservers to their nameservers and in their DNS Management point your domain's A record to your server's IP. This method is the simplest one without having to install your own DNS on your server.

    Then for the hosting part you will need a webserver, php and mysql installed on the server.
    The simplest way to install all of these at once is using XAMPP ( http://www.apachefriends.org/index.html ).

    Once you've installed it you will see your website's root folder and put your website in there.
    You should also read XAMPP documentation for customizing needs of your webserver.
