I wanted to start this thread because I'm extremely angry with good reason.

I haven't been able to get online today for almost 6 hours. Early this morning, at about 5 a.m, I started having problems connecting to the net.

I figure no big deal, I'll just reset my DSL modem. After two unsuccessful tries, I called SBC, and they tell me their is a power outage, and they will get it fixed by 5:30 a.m.

5:30 a.m - I finally try to get my computer online again. I call SBC and they tell me they are having an outage and will get it online by 6:30 a.m.

6:30 a.m - I try again to get online. No luck. Guy from India who works for SBC tells me that will get it by 9:30 a.m. By now I'm pissed.

9:30a.m - I try AGAIN to get online and it still doesn't work. Lady tells me 1:00 p.m. By now I'm yelling.

I finally got online but anyone here who owns a business understand why I'm pissed. When I need to get online, I shouldn't have to wait 4 or 5 hours to do so. Why kind of crap is that?

SBC is now affiliate with AT&T, and they both Suck. If you don't have a contract with them cancel and get a better service. SBC sucks.

Yes SBC sucks, I have so many horror stories of my own I can safely say in my experience they suck...

I have been trying for years to get DSL, every time however I have come to one problem or another. There is a box that serves DSL within 20 feet of my house, but SBL for some reason decided to run all 5 of my phone lines to a box a few miles away. I have been fighting them for years over this, even offered to buy another line simply to get DSL from the box right acrossed my street. Multiple install attempts where the tech has stated it should be no problem have turned into the tech getting a big fat NO from the management, stating it's to much work to install my lines to the box directly acrossed from my street.

The list goes on, I'll stop here but yes they definitely do suck IMO....

I'm sick and tired of having to deal with these big corporate ISP companies. They think they can do whatever they want because they have billions of dollars and we are just the "little guys."

Unfortunately, I signed a year contract with them, but when it ends I'm going to attempt to switch to Alex Jones ISP service at http://www.infowars.net/front.html#DSL.

I don't want to sound like I'm pushing anything, and I'm not affiliated with Infowars at all, but they are a Non Corporate company that offers DSL starting at 45 bucks a month for residential.

hrblcantra, you may want to take a look at that. I can't because I'm stuck with SBC's crap for at least another 6 or 7 months.

I filled out their info form and they 'claim' my location qualifies for DSL. It should qualify, however they still have to force SBC to move my lines, who knows maybe a third party company has the power to do it....

    Thanks, worth a shot.

The bad part is no matter who you go with SBC still gets money since they own the infrastructure the majority of the time. So even if you go with another company that company has to turn around and pay SBC for the line access

I used to work for SBC up until a month ago, so I feel your pain. Its really frustrating because all of their tech support is overseas, and they have absolutely no idea what they are doing. My advice to you, call DSL billing 877-722-3755 and demand credit, if you don't get it ask for a supervisor.
