Script directory - overdone?

For the longest time I have wanted to create a script directory -- most likely for multiple languages.

What do you think? Is the "script directory" market oversaturated? Of course with this whole "web 2.0" thing, I could add many of those sorts of things to the website, which no current script directories really have.

Soo what honest input can we get today?

If you want to marry "Web 2.0" with your script directory idea, here are my suggestions:-

1. Create not only a directory for ppl to download and share scripts, but also for programmers and scripters to create their own personal profile pages, detailing the languages they're specialising in, their portfolio, achievements, what they want to do, etc.

2. Build in the consumer-generated content factor into your directory by having user rating system, user reviews, etc, for each script.

3. Have a Suggest A Script contest of sorts in your directory. The programmer who is most up to the task will get a prize. Maybe the suggesters can bid for projects like in Guru.com or eLance.com.

 

latiff gave you good advices, because most directory webmasters don't bother to do some useful things as latiff has noticed, they only install script and then they are waiting members for their directory.
