M$ XP OS has had a lot of problems but this latest one forced me to download the SP2 Update.

    http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1009_22-5366314.html?tag=zdnn.alert

How many of you have not yet downloaded the SP2 update yet?

If you have not, just looking at a photo can put your system at risk

Have you ever seen the face of the devil  sort of like eek
All of the photos I have are packed away and I do not have a digital camera.
I can not post a photo, I do not want the DP/Google/Compar Mafia to know what I look like, I may have to tap them on the shoulder at a trade show.

Why are all of your posts SE, running off the edge of the screen?
I know now, get rid of that dammed blog post or shorten it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you guys download SP2 yet or not?

What the hell happened to Compar, did he take that island vaction he was talking about, I hope he makes it back.

He hasn't been around much lately though.

    Perhaps you scared him off.

I installed sp2 on my laptop with no problems, but somewhere I was reading that about 25% of the computers that it was installed on had problems.??? I forgot where I read that and I don't know if it is true.

For some strange reason it hasn't done it by itself on my main computer. Since I have friends on dial up I ordered the disc from microsoft anyways.

Yes there are always early bugs with such a large update, it is almost a new OS. It was a 9 hour download on dialup.

The problems folks were having was that some programs would not run, but that is mostly because they did not adjust the firewall properly or turn it off and use existing firewalls already installed.

Also some had problems with CD burning software (need new drivers).

But if you want to keep using XP you have to download SP2 unless you want to destroy your system looking at photos or something silly like not having IE updated.

    SP2 also updates IE.

Yes I have updated it, but I also have 2 firewalls already (Hardware and Software), And I also Use Firefox to browse, so It shouldn't be too much of a problem anyway.

Tops, you should have no problems, just turn off the M$ built in firewall and use your own.

You should not use two at the same time, that is like trying to use two AV programs that scan at the same time, it will shut your box down.

Are you still using SP2 Tops?

Yes we had MS firewall switched off. Still messed up ZoneLabs, Norton AV etc. Also made clean install crash or no reasons.

So we're back on SP1 and a day lost. We thought waiting a few months would have ironed the shit out but no.

Anyway, I'm on win2000 here, no probs at all ever, always have at least 10 windows open with different programs and never crashes.

Technically Macs are BSD at the core, not Linux. :)

See SE, a PC man like you can not teach folks about MAC's.

The only thing keeping folks from moving over to MAC is cost.

PC is so cheap, but as everyone knows with the security problems you must be pretty smart to keep from getting your box turned into a zombie or simply fried, PC SUCKS anymore....

What! They will do everything and more than a dammned PC will do SE.

You can do digital video and a lot of pre-press work a hell of a lot better on MAC's, I have a friend in the printing business and the majority of the boxes are MAC's.

Most Graphic Artists would not get caught dead with a PC, nor movie producers.

Yes PC's are making inroads into those fields but are light years behind.

Since webmastering is going fast into webcasting, MAC's will be more important down the road to progressive webmasters/webcasters.

Get with the program SE :D

    I just can't stand it...

I've played with windows since I was 8 years old. I build my first PC when I was 11.

It's too late to go back now.

I know the benefits, but I just don't care. :D
