Well that's an 8-10 hour sleep which sounds pretty normal to me, you just have to offset that by hitting the hay earlier; so be organised & disciplined, I know I'm not ;)

And if you are sitting infront of a screen all day and more get away from it regularly; I spent a week away from work & screen over Christmas and felt way refreshed :)

well it's got to be a personal choice. and mine is along the lines of "i choose self-employment because it's all for me. when i was an 'office monkey' i worked half the time i do now and hated every minute.

but if you'd rather work than watch the tank that must be a good thing, surely?

schedule, schmedule. i come and go as i please.

    do what suits you!

A work schedule is not generally necessary for me. I don't believe in the get up at 8 a.m. sharp to begin work. That is only necessary for fairly large businesses which have more than one person running the operation.

Schedules mean nothing to me unless I have a specific appointment or assignment. Otherwise, the only thing that concerns me is making sure I get a set amount of work done each day. What time I do the work doesn't matter as long as I get it done.

I set a schedule for myself for 2 reasons:

    1. It makes it easier for me to focus on work.
    2. It gets me out of my work! :D Otherwise I might work all the time.

I do play with the schedule a bit. If my wife has a day off mid week, sometimes I just take it off with her and work another day. But, overall I find a schedule helps me keep work and play separate.

I wake up every morning at 5am. I have always tried to have a set schedule otherwise my body / mind does not function properly.

Depending on what you do that schedule might be great for you and your clients - especially if they have 9-5 jobs during the day and cannot really focus on their needs. It goes back to your clients of course and their needs / wants

No set schedule here. I usually do most of my work early in the morning or late at night. With a family to take care of it works pretty well for me.

I generally work from 8-11am, a couple of days a week I fit a nap in between 11-1. Or sometimes I need to use this time for work, or my own running around. I do not feel guilty for taking a nap. I leave at 2 to take my mom to the doc, which over the last couple of months has been daily, go do her grocery shopping and errands. Then, it's home for dinner and kids homework. I utilize the time between 8pm and 2am, sometimes later for more online work.

Sometimes, if I feel especially productive, I start din din in the morning.

I recently have adjusted to a schedule that is working great for me. I get up at 830am to eat and shower, I then work for 3 hours then eat and workout for 30 minutes then work for another 3 hours. It's going pretty good, I'm usually in bed by 12-1230am.

I dont have a schedule as such. But what seems to motivate me, and this may sound somewhat weird is to make sure I get dressed, have a shower, shave, put my shoes on etc (hey, some days when your not going outside at all you dont have to look your best). I find just being "ready for the day" even if your not going to leave the house helps me.

No schedule... currently working on MBA so somewhat difficult to keep schedule. Even when i wasn't in school though i didn't really have a schedule. Web dev/SEO was something I love doing so it was never really work for me. However, sometimes that back fires and I'll go about 45-60 straight days of working on new website/websites for 12+ hours per day and then not work an ounce for 2 weeks or so. But that's the beauty of the job, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

No rock solid schedule here, although it would be great to get into some sort of routine. My problem is that it is way too easy to get distracted and end up doing nothing!

I agree that the flexibility offered is fantastic, but you can't live on thin air alone so you need some sort of income. If a schedule is what you need to generate revenue, then a schedule it is. :)

I believe some people work better without a schedule. There's nothing like working when you're inspired to do something cool out of the blue. Forcing yourself can make you less effective. But then again, everyone is different. It also depends on how much you're into your work overall :)

I believe in goal oriented schedules for a month to month thing... keeps you focused. And create a daily task list the day prior of what I need to do the next day. If I have a lot going on that day, I will try to put a time table to it to make sure I fit it all in. It is amazing how much you can really fit into a day.
