Senior Members of WebProWorld admit to spreading the false news report

WebProWorld comes under scrutiny after David Castle and Jason Miller, both moderators at WebProWorld, admit to spreading the false news report titled, "G8 Leaders Tout Massive Wind Farms To Thwart Global Warming".

When questioned about the report Castle responded by writing, "...this sort of PR excercise is aimed at helping you gain BL's and also to attract more forum members" and that "it is the first of many."

Jason Miller followed up by writing, "I found the concept irresistible and went with it, as a lover of satire as well as marketing and social experiments..."

If you have to use those kind of tactics to get members for your forum then you are seriously screwed up...

And just to think of the publicity Google has also drawn from their foolish pigeon-rank parodies, and their translator page which lists Elmer Fudd, Klingon and "Bork-Bork". Those aren't languages! I checked!

Yes, what is this world coming to with their bits of humor and rabble-rousing.

 

Don't forget the Google Moon/Cheese viewer and the lunar job posted:

"Google will be conducting experiments in entropized information filtering, high-density high-delivery hosting (HiDeHiDeHo) and de-oxygenated cubicle dwelling."

They should just go back to their stupid forum, go away you bastards.

 

Isn't it funny ... everytime you have a thread critiquing some other site or forum, within a day you have brandnew members coming on and defending it. Never fails.

 

They didn't write their own press release it. I wrote that post as an example of the negative publicity that "could" be generated from such a stunt.

I'll stop kicking a dead horse. This just bothers me that others consider this acceptable and even defend it.

I find it funnier that when someone has an opposing view your quick to infer that they are "Newbie Spies" In my reply to the original post I pointed out google doing something quite similar. I was hoping to invoke from that if you would hold the same negative oppinion of a parody by another company.

I loved it. I think most people who actually read the article from top to bottom would have smelled a rat. Prime example of you can't take everything too serious.
I once wrote an article about a pet owner who sued MightyDog dog food company. His dog watched a MightyDog commercial where the dog on T.V. had on a cape and flew around, then the guys dog jumped off the balcony to his death.
