SEO in the Jungle

If you are SEO'ing your own sites instead of selling SEO services, it seems to me that you can live just about anywhere on the globe.

As your income will not fluctuate based upon where you live, it makes the best economic sense to live in an area where the cost of living is low -- because you can then get the best life for for your buck.

Taking this concept to its logical exteme, I was recently thinking about moving to Belize. I believe ferrett77 is also considering Belize as a next stop.

Belize is a small English-speaking country in Central America. After a two-week tour, Belize still seems like a good choice to me. Unfortunately, the idea was vetoed by my lovely wife.

Belize would be a good location for a very private residence. You could buy up a huge plot of land and never see the neighbors.

Alternatively, you could buy a smaller plot of land on an island offshore. Land is more expensive there, but there are fewer mosquitos. Mosquitos are a serious annoyance.

The people of Belize are friendly. The communications infrastructure is reasonably good. The climate is just a bit too hot, even for me.

The country is very rustic. Drinking water comes from rain collectors or plastic bottles. Part of the price you pay for being away from it all is that you are away from the good stuff as well as the bad.

Strangely, Belize is fairly expensive. A 46% import tax will do that. Locally produced items are inexpensive, but there isn't too much that is locally produced. The country really is very small.

Is anyone else considering moving their SEO business out of the country?

If so, where are you thinking of? With Belize off the list as "too rustic", I'm trying to come up with new ideas.

My business is run by a mobile + laptop and i pretty much travel around from year to year.
The idea was to spend my life on beaches - but you cant see the screen!

I intend to continue for a few more years yet, It is impractical at times (in certain places), but overall well worth it.

The end scenario for anyone who works online (not just seos) will mean they can work anywhere, anytime. So it will be about quality of life, but it also depends if you have family that you have to take with you i guess.

 

Costa Rica is on my short list.

In newcastle you will have hundreds of favorites and scores of locals.

Your idea is sound...but, if I may be blunt...Belize is a crime and disease infested shit-hole.
Re-evaluate the location. PM if you need contacts in cheap South and Central American places.

 

It's a good thing we have our wives to keep us out of trouble.

Costa Rica...love most of the Pacific. Dont think much of San Jose or the Carib side. Going to Playa de coco for a week in June and then for the better part of August.

 

The chicks in Costa Rica are amazing.. Maybe one day if I can I will move there just for the women..

The downside about any South American Country is that if you drink a tiny sip of the water, take a shower, or eat a piece of fruit, you will be on the shitter all night long...

LOL, I heard it's safe to drink mixed drinks. But I think they may use the same water for the ice. :/

 

I've survived the jungle of southern Mexico. The answer is never drink anything except beer.

 

What's the Internet connection like there. If I have to continue to make a living in this game I'll need a decent connection.
