    Hello:

What do I need to know to start freelancing or getting some work at SEO?

Is there any SEO resources out there that are extremly valuable?. I know of DP, most forums, and the normally recomended tutorials. What does someone need to know or do to get SEO work?

I feel confident in my basics and I have done good job already in low competition keywords. I have achieved very good ratings with msn ( top 10 for all keywords i'm targeting with 2 sites), decent in yahoo ( top 15 for most keywords) and in google even sandboxed I have a few 20's.

I was thinking of freelancing on those sites, but yesterday I went into one and most of the jobs are unreasonable like google top 5 for $50, for 20 keywords in a month. That's not easy for non-competitive words and I'm prety sure the job will be for competitive words. ( you don't know the words until you win the bid).

I meant giving people tips about search engine optimization, posting on other search engine related blogs and featuring it in your signature and the blog feed can get you noticed and on the map. It works for me :)

Posting in forums can be a big one. I get weekly offers due to my posting in other forums. I don't do other peoples SEO so I turn them down but it shows the potential.

Be sure to just be a good poster, giving good information. If you are constantly posting that you are looking for clients, you probably won't get any.

Also usually staying away from the General Chat sections help too ;)

I agree, when people don't like what you express over there, it can hurt your reputation. I have been adviced again and again to stay out of there and even though I don't I keep certain opinions to myself.

If I may add: the majority of visitors at any given point here are guests and not members many of which are looking for your services. Stay away from general chat or talking to anthonycea in general and talk about things that you know about.

Thanks all for the tips. I'm still looking for some advance learning but it looks like its more like each man(female) for its own. If somebody has really advance advice you can post it here or PM me sources.

What are the top 5 seo blog or forums out there for each one of you? I only actively post here and sitepoint( mainly for the massive amouth of link you can get there and big community).

    Mizt: I'll Pm you

Sitetutor: Thanks for all the great Ideas, Do you need someone to mentor? :D. Im still not good enough on php and mysql to do my own tools but ill keep it in mind. I'm planning to start 2 SEO, webmaster related blogs in a week or 2, one of them will incluide my info and portfolio.

yfs1: I stay out of general chat in forums I know what can happen there.

TheWebJunkie: I'm thinking on that. Actually I'm thinking of doing some SEO work and get paid by results shown, Obviously I won't take really dificult work ( because of the time needed).

    Here's what I would do:

    1. Build a site for yourself, target cetrain keywords get get some good rankings and a bit of traffic.
    2. Whilst doing this, contact a couple of people who have a decent list of clients or work required, work for a few months for free.. the advice they give you will be worth more than any money you could earn and you will be able to say I got 'domian.com' from 200 to 5 for its main terms etc..
    3. Build a couple of small and cheap sites for people you know, offer to promote it with your adsense on and their products.
    4. Use all of these sites to cross promote.
    5. Be patient and use a different revenue stream for now.

In a few months you will have a decent portfolio, knowledge at all levels, useful contacts, probably a few clients, excellent references and some income. As well as the confidence to say you know what you are doing and back it up. But it means not earning well for a while and working much harder than you would like.

However, it gives you a good diversification and the potential that any of those projects may do very well or that you may become indispensable.

I always have tasks you can do ;) and I am sure others will too if you ask.
