Is it just me or have SEO/Webmaster Forums been poping up like crazy all over the place recently (Second half of the year). The funny thing is that they are not short of members too, yet I would say only a few are really worth the time (like DP ofcourse) as most don't really have any other value added services, also you seem to find quiet a few member overlap.

Search Engine Optimisation Forums are kinda like shopping malls .. you build it, they will come running :D

Everyone has one now, most of them are dead in the water with few posters and little traffic.

Shawn was telling us about some of the MAC forums one night and I think he mentioned that one of them had 750,000 members.

So there are some very hot forums out there, SEO forums seem to become boring after a while.

I think folks would rather discuss browsers, operating systems, software and tools more than SEO stuff most of the time anyway.

Payout, I will not high jack your thread, I just don't like your airplane, I would rather fly in a jet :)

most seo forums are more about people trying hook up with clients, the discussion

so any discussion which might interfere with that gets removed

There was one I have seen that is always hitting on its members to get business from in one form or another. realestatewebmasters (dot ) com. There seems to be some useful information on there but, it seems geared toward attracting clients.

I believe I have seen some of you on there as well, but not a lot.

My list shows 44 web forums related to SEO.

This is probably more than the market will sustain.

    I would have thought so...

There is another new one that has been released by the guys that run webmaster-talk.

    I really can't imagine a forum succeeding unless -

    1) Like here, there was already a large number of visitors coming to the site on a regular basis, to make use of the free tools etc...
    2) You are Danny Sullivan
    3) The forum has been online for a long time already
    4) The moderation is relaxed. I think that's the most important thing. If you get a bunch of twats for moderators, it can be difficult to stay at the forum. Regardless as to how much you learn (IMO).

Yes SE ... and DP has 1 & 4 going for it.

The addition of the Ad Network has also boosted DP, as quiet a few new faces have signed up just for that alone.

Keep up the good work Shawn.
