seotown.com gone?

Just tried to go back to see what if anything had been happening on Darrin's new forum, SEO Town, and I guess the answer is not a whole lot.

According to GoDaddy, the domain has expired.

Seems Darrin is having trouble making up his mind about what he wants to do after his "enforced" year away from SEO forums...

It died eight months ago. :( It needs a COOL new discovery like the Googledance to keep it from dying. Looks like the datacenter posts wern't enough. *Wounders who's going to be the first to snatch it up.*

It did sort of die in the spring but then it looked like it might be having a revival... was there a couple of weeks ago or so and there were a couple of new posts, including from Darrin... not exactly bustling but not quite a Ghost-SEO Town yet either...

Yes, but it needs more than those posts in order to get back to what it was before.

I would give you $5 if you could even describe what the forum looked like. Something tells me you are just randomly posting again

I know ! ! started posting a lot after he left here and SEOChat in a huff. To be honest it suffered IMO from what so many forums suffer from, it felt a bit closed. If you didn't know anyone, you felt kind of left out.

Just goes to show how hard it is to get an SEO forum going and keep it that way these days. Even for the founder of SEOChat.

The trick is to make a content site and start with one board, and as the site grows, then make more boards, and once it's populer, then pay for vBulletin! Boards that look dead with a lot of different boards wouldn't look so dead if all those threads were being made on the same board a few posts a day. That 'Last Post' date on the index can be a scarlet letter!! You want to see todays or yesterdays date there!!!! Not last years date!!!!! :D

I think there's more to it than that. The webmaster/seo forum circuit is pretty crowded right now. If you don't have a usp (unique selling point) you probably won't last long.

That would explain it. After Toots posted, Darrin likely just said, "That's it. I've had it!".
