That was messed up! I saw that on TV several times today, ticked me off. I hope they nail that cop to the wall.

That's harsh. I'm glad the cops in the uk don't usually carry guns.

No one should be surprised by this news. America is turning into a police state more and more everyday. My brother was recently bothered by a cop while leaving his job.

You know what is really funny? Some of the same people posting in this thread about how bad it was for that sheriff to do that are the same people who are anti gun and believe that only the military and police should be allowed to carry guns.

People like edz and others have said this. Well, once Americans are disarmed, you can just get ready for more incidents like this. The cops are going to have a field day when you're no longer able to fight back.

So much for the Posse Commitatus Act of 1878.

What would you suggest doing in that situation? The thing is being on video retaliating back by shooting the cop or even striking him would again put you in the negative. I agree with you about keeping yourself protected, but it seems like a lose/lose situation here.

Being on video defending yourself puts you in the negative? Nope... it's your civil right to defend yourself. No jury is going to convict a man defending himself after being shot 3 times by an idiot police officer.

That officer deserves 20+ with no parole. Shooting an unarmed compliant civilian 3 times and then telling him to shutup when he moans in pain... DISGUSTING.

The fact is cops are often trigger happy as they know that so many people walk around the streets armed. I think incidents in the US "like" the one Rob posted would dissipate if the risk of being fired upon lowered.

On topic that was fucked up, asking the guy to get up and when he does it shooting him and telling him to stay down, I hope he gets some serious porridge/jailtime.

That video isnt very clear at all. If the person started to fire at the police man you know well the story would be different.

Bull shit. I think the risk of being fired upon would be lowered if police weren't allowed to point a gun unless directly threatened by loss of life.

The people come first - the police a sworn to protect us and put THEIR LIFE on the line.

This should have never happened - and we need to send a message to police everywhere that they won't get away with this crap - send him to prison for the rest of his life.

Cops in Holland are only allowed to shoot when they get shot at first, basically. And in between gettng shot at and shooting back they'll have to ponder the consequences of shooting someone potentially innocent since it's often the cop going to jail instead of the criminal.

I thought the guy saying "I'm on your side" was the camera man. I didn't realize it was the guy on the ground. That was cold blooded murder. Absolutely no reason to shoot.

Can't wait to hear the "spin" on this one. Cops are always saying "you don't see the whole thing in the video." You could see the whole thing this time - including the cop taunting him, then shooting him when he complied with orders.

That's really messed up! Hope the cop does jail time and spends it in the general population section of the prison.
