    Would anyone by any chance can direct me or explain to me the customs between Canada and USA. Do they work the same both ways? How exactly is everything calculated.

    well i heard they do something with 'value' of the item. and then do the taxes.. and what ever it comes up to you pay

    Well, as far as getting shipped stuff from the USA. I had a 60$ fee on a 15$ value item that was noted in the sheet.

    If an item is send from canada to Usa, do they get custom fees?

    It is very confusing. I used to live in Canada and moved to the US. If you mark something as "gift" or "sample" it generally gets through for free.

    Actual rates depend on where the product was originally manufactured and what item it is. If you are planning on doing anything big, meet with a customs broker, they will save you money long run.

    I regularly ship items to Canada worth $44.99 - never heard any thing from the customers. I guess it must not cost customs duty to them!
