Working hours are for work not for listening music. Employes may wish to watch a movie for their relaxation. Would you allow them?

Put your focus on work not on entertainment during work.

depends. I am distracted by music and my productivity is low if I listen to anything. For some it might be different. Still, I'd let them play their music in the headphones, not a centralized system. Money bonuses might work better though :D

I don't think you should have music on 'in the office'. I can say this from personal experience, I always wanted music playing in the office when I worked there, but it generally just causes a bit of an issue with the rest of the 'office politics' going on. I didn't really think about that till AFTER I quit lol.

BUT by all means, if the employee wants to listen on their headphones at a level where the rest of the office won't be distracted, then let them!

You would be CRAZY to not allow them to listen to their own music. At the end of the day, as long as they get the work done, on time, to the correct standard, and it's not distracting to others, then that is all that matters right?

I think it's tricky and depends on your office. If you have only one room with workplaces close and a lot of phone calls there is now way. With more space and less phone calls you can allow it if they are using headphones but still a tricky thing as you don't know if it will increase or decrease productivity

yes, you can play music at a low volume. But don't go for soft ones. Go for pop, danceable beats. Kinda like Craig David, Mika and Bruno Mars music.

As long as there is one employee that doesn't want music then that can be challenging for you. You won't be able to make everyone happy so I would just keep it to business

Allow music as long as it doesn't effect working environment.Because working environment is more important. You can try motivate them by different methods.Motivation is stronger than music ,IMO.

Well, you should try it out
Tell your employee that they can enjoy the music during working hours but gotta ensure the productivity. If the productivity drop, no more music allowed

    I like this idea.

I'd just let them listen to their iPods or something. Playing music out loud could get annoying for other employees.

Allow the music and keep it depending on if productivity increases or decreases

Any type of noise in the work environment, whether it is gossip or music is going to be a distraction. Have them do their work quickly so they can get out at a normal time or even finish up earlier so they can head home.

haha... I like the cane's post by Seqqa.

You should definitely let your employee's play music via headphones - if not outloud if a similar taste can be agreed upon.

Why make work a place people dread to go to?
