Only if they intend on poking fun at them. Any serious attempt to study them will end with throbbing temples and an exploding head. ;)

If there is a safety concern...There is no way to do that really. They are in much more danger in a dynamic situation like a chat room then simply having a one page website with their photos (no address etc)

Those sites make me brain and eyes hurt, but other then aesthetically I don’t see a problem with teens with sites. Let them have fun and express themselves. I see more of a problem with teens and provocative behavior that carries over to the internet.

A few years ago my 14 year old cousin told me she “does naughty stuff” on her webcam for guys. I spoke to her at length and her parents as well. Her parents tried to do everything to rail that girl in, but she was just a wild teen.

I have a real problem with kids growing up too fast. I mean there are stores that sell thongs and skimpy bikinis for girls as young as 4 years old. I mean that is beyond wrong.

Sorry got off on a rant. As far as teens building sites for money I don’t have a problem with that either. I mean I’d rather see a kid building a website and making money then flipping a burger.

Guess you guys might be afraid of a little competion. I'm trying to make enough off the web to make me survive with out working a real job this summer. I did it but my bank account savings are down sharply and now that I have a million dollar idea I don't have the money to invest into it and I really don't want to sell any of my babies. One thing I wish I would of done at the being of the summer was make more then one or two sites. I should of made clones about different topics etc.. I'd be in much better shape. =)

i see no problem if teens will make websites. if they know what they are doing and they are properly guided by the rules (explcitly and implicitly imposed in the biz), why not?

Why not? Sometimes, these kids could even share ideas better than the old ones.

Yes, actually they are. My 11 year old daughters friends were making web sites on Piczo about 6 months back. Of course she wanted to try and I let her. I was a little suspicious when the online website editor wouldn't allow her to edit her site in Firefox, and made her use IE. I ran some adware / virus scans after she edited her site, and sure enough Piczo had dumped all kinds of questionable bookmarks into IE, along with a new IE toolbar. Many of the bookmarks were of an adult nature. Needless to say I put a stop to her (and at least one other friend, after telling their parents) use of Piczo. Pretty pathetic, of Piczo I though to target this demographic with this kind of crap. I realize my daughter is a little younger than most of the teens there, but still. There are plenty of other free website building sites, that kids/teens can learn and play on. I set her up with a geocities (i think) account, and let her play there.

Wow - that's news to me. The worst they've done to me is put Crazy Frog interstitial pages between site pages. That's very naughty.

I nearly had to do the same thing. Only thing that saved me was good ol' Firefox. It was still an uphill battle though :(

And the work of the Devil. Proof that Pizco is Satanic :p

Kids should be allowed to create their sites, it's a form of expression, but I'd rather they don't waste domain names, they should stick to free hosts like geocities, etc.

My first site wasn't nearly as bad as most of them but it was still bad. I hosted mine on tripod (then switched to geocities) and gained valuable experience toying around with concepts and designs that I'd get fired (or killed) for trying to use now... :p

Piczo.com, arg. I hate it when some chav in my school is boosting to me how he has a site, I ask him what coding he uses and they get confused! So

    A) Yes Teenagers should be allowed sites (Or my sites would not be around!)
    B) If you don't know HTML then you should not be able to have a site.

Hey, my first site was using a crappy site like Homebuilder and I was in my early 20's.

That was what inspired me to learn HTML and PHP. My sites may have not improved but I am doing them myself :p

Its all very well.. but I just really hate it when people go round places saying "Im a web coder" when some don't even know HTML, it pi*ses me of when people that can really code (Like DP) are put into the same ranks as idiots who think having a website is fashion.

I know how you feel. And if I try to explain the difference people switch off  Also when people who don't even know HTML and made their website with FP try and say that they're on the same level as me. Gah, I want to beat their heads in with a brick.
