site opening from multiple hosting - DNS problem

Discussion in 'Web Hosting' started by exceptional, Dec 24, 2006.

I am running one website. Few days ago when my hosting server went down, I changed the DNS to point to some other hosting and then after some hours, I changed it back to the my original hosting server.

Now, when i tried opening my site . sometime its opening from the my original hosting server and sometimes from the other hosting.

I am totally confused, what is happening. Is it anyway related to .htaccess file, because while restoring the site, i removed this file.

Can anyone please help me in this?

    Thanks

Chances are it has not propagated properly. It can take up to 72 hours to propagate but you moving it within 72 hours can get it basically confused. You updated the name servers and those updated everything. Then you went back and decided to update them again.

Think of if this way - you moved to a house down the street. In a few days, you moved back but your mail is going to the new address. It takes times.

Check out DNSStuff to see what they are reporting your name servers to be

    Thanks Bryant !!

Cool house movement....ya, sometime me also go to others house....

Bryant need one more favour from you, as I am not proficient in these stuffs. Here the DNS report for my site -

    --------------------------
FAIL Missing (stealth) nameservers FAIL: You have one or more missing (stealth) nameservers. The following nameserver(s) are listed (at your nameservers) as nameservers for your domain, but are not listed at the parent nameservers (therefore, they may or may not get used, depending on whether your DNS servers return them in the authority section for other requests, per RFC2181 5.4.1). You need to make sure that these stealth nameservers are working; if they are not responding, you may have serious problems! The DNS Report will not query these servers, so you need to be very careful that they are working properly.

    ns1.1111mb.com.
    ns2.1111mb.com.

This is listed as an ERROR because there are some cases where nasty problems can occur (if the TTLs vary from the NS records at the root servers and the NS records point to your own domain, for example).
FAIL Missing nameservers 2 ERROR: One or more of the nameservers listed at the parent servers are not listed as NS records at your nameservers. The problem NS records are:

    ns11.indiahost.biz.
    ns12.indiahost.biz.
    --------------------------------

According to this NS records at my nameservers is different from the parent servers.

Can you help me in this, what this is all about?

    Thanks in advance.

Are both of these the original name servers and the one you updated to for a couple of hours?

I would just be patient. As you can see - the name servers are basically confused at this point. Doing something like this - it can take awhile for everything to settle down.
