This seemed more business than graphic oriented. But was interested about what other webmasters or site builders do regarding photos for websites. Not referring to stock photos that can just be bought for a price. But when somebody wants images that show them at work or their projects.

Certainly companies with big budgets can hire top-level professional photographers.

But when it comes to individual sole proprietors and small company websites, what do webmasters do when they need a handful of decent images to put on the website? Whether the header, a few photos to insert in the pages, or a dozen or so for a small gallery?

Hire a pro every time? Use your own camera? Students? Friend? Employee on staff?

Anyone have a average budget for photos?

Never heard of a web designer deciding to turn up at their clients address to start taking photographs (though do know of some who will do product shots) unless they are also professional photographers.

Generally this would be an issue for the client to resolve if it's been agreed that these types of shots will be used and I suspect most these days will just get one of their employees to do it.
