I created a website about 12 days ago where user's submit a picture of a sandwich and we post it (http:// submityoursandwich . com )

I made it 12 days ago, it surpassed 1,000 unique hits on day 10.

A web network company from England got in touch with me and this guy wants to offer me $200 for the website, then give me 50% of revenue for the next year if I continue to work on it. (he plans on getting it big, yaddya yaddya)

So DP, would this be a good idea? I too feel like this website could get big, but I'm not the best at Adsense and actually MAKING money off sites, im just better at selling them. Some advice?!

1000 uniques should = 2.5 - 60 USD per day so why on earth would you sell something that pays for itself already ?

My bad , I understood 1000 uniques per day not over 10 days . I was talking about potential AdSense revenue per 1000 uniques . Then if you're a lazy SoB or simply don't have time you should go whit the 50% per year revenue . Just keep the controls in your hands :D

No problems haha. Im not lazy, I run a ton of websites. Basically what im getting at is if my site is doing well after just 12 days (and someones offering $200) then should I keep it and try to monetize it? Or just get the $200, and let this company monetize it and get 50% for a year. (they said they hope to earn $500 monthly within the year, yea I know, anyone can say that but js)

Hang on to it. You have a good idea there which looks like it's starting to work - its the kind of thing that just might catch on. You'd be far better off looking at how you are using adsense, and looking at exploiting other forms of advertising as traffic builds.

If you do consider letting it go for them take the offer and ask for an indefinite stake in future profits.

So they pay you $200 plus 50% revenue for the next year?

Sorry buddy but that sounds like you have a decent idea and they want you to keep slogging away at it for a year then just when it will begin to bear fruit and start paying a reasonable return, you get booted. :/

$200 plus 50% for first year PLUS 25% thereafter seems a bit more like it. Or just keep it all to yourself and hope it pays off.

Ask them how they propose to monetize it (by way of pre-sale negotiation *cough*) ;)

Judge it yourself whether this site is worth $200 or more than that?
if you think it worth more than $200, ask the price you want or reject the offer
By the way, if you think the website is not worth $200, sell to the buyer

It's not only the matter of 200$ you are also going to get 50% revenue for next one year, that is great if you don't want to keep the site with you.
I think it will be easy and beneficial if you sell the site to them but try increasing the revenue sharing to more than one year.

Do you know (or want to share the name of) who offered you that?

/me wonders if it was the cheezeburger network (the organization behind lolcats, failblog, and their hundreds of other sites like that)

I like the idea of food porn lol. In your case I would ask for more, like $1k and for 50% revenue for a few years or something. The idea is awesome and there is a huge market for it.
Also try to add some amazon products into your sidebar (grills etc).

If you sell it, all you will get is $200, right? And yes, in addition to 50% of next year earning but only if you work on the site on your own. Thus, in nutshell, all you will get is $200 only as certain portion from potential earning is what you will get anyway if you keep working on it. At the moment, what I'm wondering is where you are getting traffic from? I'm scared if most of them are from dp users and it seems like you were promoting it lately in dp if I'm right. So, just be practical and decide! If the traffic you are getting is genuine, 1k UV is still great for 2 weeks old sites. Just a bit more promotion and investing will certainly increase its traffic. But if not, it is totally up to you again. You can either sell it for $200 or stick with your idea and give it a go again because a unique idea is worth a lot more than hundreds of dollars (if you succeed, of course). Good Luck BTW!

I'll hold onto it, I think I could improve it more over the next few months. And thanks everyone for the advice!

Rosn007, only 4% of external links to the site are from DP :( 56.5% is from Facebook. A huuuuuuuge chunk of it lol

At first I thought, maybe it was a hoax, but you ARE for real. First of, Chris, make your domain name inaccessible. You can do this with any domain name providers for a couple of $$ a year. Otherwise everyone will know who you are: http://whois.domaintools.com/submityoursandwich.com and it's not good for your future business purposes.

Second of all, you have a website that can bring in thousands of $$ a day, so definitely keep it. You've stumbled on a gem, man. I envy you!!! :)

They can see some great potential in the site and i certainly 'would' not sell it on the 1st offer see how bad they want it by bluffing i feel they could well go much higher, you never ever sell on the fiest offer that someone gives to you.Tou have something that they want to make you sell it ask for more 'wonga' aqnd try and work out why they want it.

You are holding the cards you dictate the deal, the art is i guess how far are you willing to hold onto them,if it was me i would try and get them to come back to the table with 2-3 offers.Good luck with it
