I want to do social bookmarking, but im not clear on it.

Do i submit my "News/story" or have someone submit to over 100 social bookmarking sites and then after that people Digg/stumble it for expample?

    Thanks for any help.

You can do it in whatever way you want.

Personally, I manually submit my best web-pages to the top social bookmarking websites right after I create the pages.

The trick is to have great web pages, because then your visitors will bookmark them on their own. It's a waste of time (or money if you pay for it) to bookmark a useless web page to 100s of websites.

I only submit to about 5 of these sites and work on spreading the news. It's useless to get bookmarked on 100 sites because it's hard to promote the article.
By the way, submit articles not entire sites. ;)

Again even in social bookmarking sites as in forums... reputation is what counts... if you are a regular member in few social media sites and you bookmark a page (may be yours) your friends in the community are more interested in what you have to say and they will go ahead an bookmark it... as a new digg or stumbleupon user if you bookmark your site... there are minimal chances of people even noticing your story... so in my opinion better build a reputation in few social bookmarking sites rather then going for 100's of them...

    Good luck

All are good suggestion, if you make quality content, people will notice it and they will make it viral.

I think tis better that every webmaster submits all pages of his website to social bookmarks firstly, then others can see them and vote for those pages or visit them.
