Social Bookmarking Vs Directory Submission

    Are there many differences in these two things? Does Social Bookmarking work better? Are they basicly the same thing but just setup to show websites a little different? Will Social bookmarking work for a strictly ebook website?

    What are some of the best ones? Do I need to have a good article or picture to link it to?

    Still kind of fuzzy on how these work any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Social bookmark is better since it can genarate more traffic and helps in get indexed by search engine. Directory might helps on PR more than traffic

    Each one has its own importance. If you are listed in dirctory like DMOZ then it is more then useful for your website same as with social bookmarking sites. They are the very good source to bring traffic to the website if you can us them properly. :)

    I would be aware about social bookmarking though, at search engine forum, there are a lot of websites that rely on social bookmarking starting to lose ranking. Google seems discredit links from social bookmarking recently.

    I'd do both .... but directories are a thing of the path .... who uses them anymore ? when was the last time ? Welcome to web2.0. Go social and bookmarking - it's just a new form of directory technically.

    true..that is why I prefer Directory Submission for pagerank...Social Bookmarking for traffic n blog reviews for both.

    i would not even worry about the directory. Once you get traffic from social bookmarking it will get picked up faster that submitting to a directory.

    I would go with quality and high PR directory submissions, not just blindly submitting in any directory, it wont take you anywhere.
    While Social bookmarking is always great for getting indexed quickly with some instant traffic as well.

    social bookmarking will surely help you more but there are limited bookmarking site and you have large number of directory sites so.. I m sure that we should use both

    Bookmarking is best for fast serp. but long term back links, directory submission help. i think, google take months to count links from directory categories.

    I'd use both, wih directory submissions being the backbone of my SEO campaign.
    As Oranges says, submit to only high quality directories, though there is more to a good directory than PR so don't submit on this basis alone.
