It shouldn't be any if maybe a tiny bit slower or maybe even faster since the i86 CPU is not being *Emulated* like it was in the Days of Virtual PC running Windows on a PowerPC CPU...

Basically you are for all intents and purposes Booting a Windows Machine or a OSX Machine...

Seems these guys have a new Virtualization Software to run Windows along side OS X so you won't have to Boot Windows just OS X and then run Windows...

I'm sure there's a Performance Hit when doing it this way but it can't be as bad as using Virtual PC on the Mac... :D

Stock for Apple shot up when they announced the release of this software. Hope some of you out there had some shares. :)

Actually it has nothing to do with dual booting (Boot Camp).

Actually, this is not virtualization. Boot Camp is a boot manager which allows you to boot into either Windows or OS/X.

Apple makes this very clear with the statement:

"Once you’ve completed Boot Camp, simply hold down the option key at startup to choose between Mac OS X and Windows. (That’s the “alt” key for you longtime Windows users.) After starting up, your Mac runs Windows completely natively. Simply restart to come back to Mac." http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/

There was virtualization software released today. But, not by Apple.

Parrallels -- http://www.parallels.com/ -- released software which runs on current versions of the Mac, as well as Windows and Linux.

It allows you to install numerous "x86-based operating systems, including the entire Windows family from 3.1 to XP and Server 2003, several Linux distributions, FreeBSD, Solaris and “legacy” operating systems like OS/2, eComStation and MS-DOS."

It creates a virtual machine and Windows will run in there. It runs on a virtual machine, which is not the same as emulation. Do not forget the new Macs or Intel, which hackers have already tweaked to dual boot between OS/X and Windows.
