I'm wondering if any of you guys have one of these. What do you think of it?

Personally I can't really see the point in owning one, unless you find it acceptable to pay premium prices for games that are more or less watered-down versions of their full counterparts.

I must confess that my opinion is based solely on what I've read on the subject. I haven't been (un)fortunate enough to test one out for myself.

Well then you can consider a PVP (personal video player) with Gigabytes of storage space instead of a few megabytes. Something like the Creative Zen Vision or the like. I think they are aproximately the same price but offers loads more storage space.

The PSP doesn't really make sense to me.

Yeah they don't really make sense to me either. You have to buy a different version of a movie. I mean if you had soemething that played DVDs you could later watch the DVD in your house.

Just shows that marketing is very powerful. Huge hype helps to sell anything. Although looking it from a competition point of view. The PSP did come into the Hand-held market with a bang, I dont think anyone can mess around with the game companies sony has under it's belt.

Watching movies on the damn small screen might not be a super feature. But just the fact that it can.. Just adds a new feature to hype about.

well, I think we will increasingly see all-in-one devices being released. Personal media players should have a future ahead of them. If they perhaps add the capability to read e-books etc at a later stage more people will make use of them.

At this stage, I would rather go for something that offers me loads of space rather than some hyped-up features.

A friend of mine recently bought the Sony PlayStation Portable from Japan and he says it's really good. I've tested it out. The graphics are to die for. You wouldn't expect something as good as that to show out on a screen the size of you Gameboy. Besides that, it has a built in wifi receiver, so you can walk around the place ONLINE! since it's sony, it can be a storage device where you can load videos and songs! I would get one.

I have one just because I like gadgets n stuff, the size of the screen if pretty generous and it has a browser/wi-fi and the graphics are pretty awesome. I am not a big gamer so it is just a really "handy" distraction to pick up every now and again and chill with.
