Yikes again! I once again find myself in the rather unsavory position of agreeing with Compar.

This WAS a pub, after all. And they sell beer and food there. It's not like a rent-a-TV place.

Yes, if there were a lot of empty seats, it might have been worth the good will to leave TOPS alone. But on the other hand, if you're running a pub that looks as though it's a TV watching coffee shop or something, it may not create the "wild time" ambiance he's aiming for...

Bottom line he sold the soda, although begrudgingly.

The point is, if you want a soda and a game there, expect to be prodded into spending more money.

Showing live Football is a marketing trick, a pull-factor. I knew they did so I went there. Happy to spend £5 in 50 minutes or so which would have covered for all the costs I caused him by being there.

Because of his silly demands I ended up only spending £2.70. Which still gives him profit and is £1.35 more had I followed his advice and walked out.

He would never have said the same had I been a woman (discrimination) even knowing women spend FAR LESS in pubs than men.

But women in pubs attract men to pubs, and men buy drinks for themselves AND the women when they get there...

It's just business, TOPS... nothing personal.

    That's "road rage" thinking, TOPS.

It wasn't about you, the individual... it was about you, the generic customer who wasn't spending money...

OK that's true. The guy doesn't know me so it couldn't have been personal in that sense.

    But I was spending money.

Anyway, this guy and his crap sense of customer service isn't worthy any more of my time.

I bet he would laugh his tight stingy arse off if he knew that you went back to your computer, posted about him on a forum, and drummed up 10 pages on the subject.

Sometimes I refuse to serve customers at work, or ask them to leave. I hope I get 10 pages on an internet forum too!

Precisely. It's his business so he has the right to do business his way. And you are the customer so you have a right to take your business elsewhere.

There are certain businesses around here that I simply don't give my money to because of issues like that. They have nothing against me personally but I didn't like the way I was treated and there are other places who will take my money and treat me more like they care about keeping me as a customer.

With some of them, I will go out of my way to spend that money elsewhere.

Well I already decided to never set foot there again and I'm not going to wait outside his pub for hours so he can rest assured there won't be any stabbing from my end.

If he's still there with his pub by the time I'm filthy rich I might have a stab at exercising the idea of opening the competing pub where people get unlimited free coke refills. And free beer if Minstrel wins the poll.
