Story about How I Get Scammed on DP

    Hello,
I have been scammed by a person with an email address . His DP username is myth.road. A week ago, I open a thread on Digital Point to buy websites. This is the first time I buy websites. I have no experience and got cheated by this person. He sold me a website. I offer him $800. Then, he pmed me back and said he want to sell it for $1000. I wanted that website so I buy it from him. He open an escrow transaction. During the process of buying the website, he keep on asking me for telephone number and address. I was thinking why did he keep on asking for these information. Another thing is that he seems to insist that he want to help to do everything. He want to restore the database for the blog. I told him to upload it to the server but he refused. I also asked him to give me the username and password of the main wordpress account but he refused. Later, he pushed the domain to me but did not give me the database. Now, I am left with a domain but without a database. I was sad. I thought I spend $1000 for nothing. Later, he sent an email and threatened me to pay $600 for the database via Western Union to a person located in Hyderabad, India. Many people have emailed me and told me that they want to buy the website for a few thousand dollars. When they find out that the website is different, they take back their offers. I can do nothing about it. I did pay him $600. After I paid him $600, he asked for another $600. He thinks he can rob all my money away. I advise you be careful when you buy website from Digital Point. Never approve the transaction unless you have receive the database and domain. If you have a story about how you get scammed when buying website on DP, you can post it here as well. I asked him why he keep asking for money. He said he is in urgent need of money. Bastard. Now, lots of people have been emailing me why they cannot login into their accounts. This is because I am not using the original database. They want the website because of the database.

You have to be really very careful while dealing with money online, honey. Yes I had also few bad experiences, but I did not loose any money as of yet to these scammers. Couple of them had tried to get my money by claiming it was their site and would transfer the domain and the details after the payment, but I purposely delayed my decision. This really helped me, because the ones who paid already started posting comments about the money in the same thread :)
Check this out for your reference :

You also have to check the reputation of the user you are dealing with dear, I checked your guy's profile, he doesnot have any itraders, not more than 35 posts and registered on December, 2009. This doesnot look like a person who can hold a site like that.

I cried when I saw his email. He is so upsetting. He thinks I can give him another $600 but I can't. I hope there is a solution to this problem.

That's why you need to learn who to deal with, and who not to deal with.
Good luck with all your latest forum adventures though - it sucks getting scammed, but guess what? Did you learn from it? Are you going to prevent it from happening again?

Or are you going to make the same mistake twice?

    Learn!

On the plus side, you used an escrow service for your transaction. But why in the world did you approve the escrow transaction before you got what you were expecting??? That's the whole point of using an escrow service, to make sure you get what you pay for.

Sorry to heard about this. Many people are complain that they get scammed but they never noticed that most of the people get scammed because they want "cheap". They never think how come it is so cheap compare to market price. Back to the point, to deal with DP member, don't pay advance if the member with low itrade.

Yeah, I know, getting scammed sucks (even though the most I have been scammed out of is a few bucks). You just have to learn from it, nothing much you can do.

You started well, but ended in sorrow. You have used escrow.com, but you should release the funds only after you got the database. Can you show the website here? So, others won't get deceived by any other person who wants to sell that stuff again here through another name.

Recently, I lost around $700+ buying a website from a reputed member on dp. Although he handed over the website to me, it earns 0. I was as frustrated as you over the loss. Remember, just drop bad people like bad habits. These guys will learn a lesson some day. Life is the best teacher! Anyways, I personally believe that it's better being robbed than be a robber.

Move on and stop worrying about the lost deal.
