Stumble Upon Seems To Have Tightened Their Policies

Once I used to get at least 200 visitors if I had stumbled a new site for the first time. It no longer is the case. I would like to know whether this is happening only for my sites. I even had days when I got over more than 6000 visitors / day.

Maybe its because of so many people submitting sites, that stumbleupon is saturated - making it difficult for people to find quality sites.

My opinion, the majority of stuff on stumble aint worth looking at.

I think it is an "across the board" policy they have instituted. The Stumble Upon admin recently visited every single post that I had submitted to them from my blog. You can tell because the location of the visitor is always San Francisco or San Jose. They removed close to 50% of the posts that I had submitted to them. The most traffic I ever got was 80 visits from one of my submitted posts. I've read that you aren't supposed to Stumble your own stuff. Maybe they've decided to crack down on that.

Ok, here's a big tip from a power stumbler (like me) The highest traffic I got from my blogpost is 300k (that's only 8 days after I discover it) Lots of factor to make your webpage/article popular on SU. The article should be optimized for SU audience.

Majority of stumbler like pics(specially big and interesting pics) So, all article should include interesting pics(funny or bizarre)

Make a catchy title (yah, same old advice)

Ask a power stumbler(has 10k+ stumbles n 300+ subscribers) to discover it. Why? coz stumbleup0n already trust this users. Therefore, all their submissions are automatically shared by the SU system itself.

In my case, I discover, then wait for 1-2 hours. If the views(traffic) is below 300, I shared it to my 400+ mutuals(90% of them will thumbz up it).

    If thats still below 500 views. I twit it using su.pr. I got 5,400 twitter followers, 30% diggers, 30% stumblers, 40% bots(kidding)

Not all awesome post gets popular. So do all this and be careful what you ask for. one of my post got 35k visit/day for 1 whole week on a single post. And I'm hosted on mediatemple that time. Mediatemple send me an $800 projected overage. Lol, I need to transfer to another host before that happen.

    So good luck :)

I've never had too much luck at all with any type of social bookmarking. I've submitted all different kinds of posts, and never really got much action from Stumble Upon. I think the most I got was 82 hits once. Maybe I just don't know how to use social bookmarking right. Even Twitter hasn't produced for me and I have over 1500 followers.

I had a page on stumbleupon which was stumbled and reviewed by lot of stumblers. And during the peak of the traffic I used to get almost 6000-7000. However it din't sustain for long.
