Suggestion for which CMS to use

I was wondering what kind of content management system I should use for a website that is dedicated to a wide variety of article categories and sub categories. I'm thinking of a CMS like www.bodybuilding.com uses; however, I don't know what they use.... Your suggestions would be most appreciated.

 

I suggest modx! it's a very flexible cms

What about Drupal?

 

I use Joomla on a s sites and have been happy with it.

 

I believe Joomla will be okay for you. Its a bit hard to setup. If you need something easy ti install and customize then go with Wordpress.

 

I've used wordpress, drupal and joomla before for sites. I really like Wordpress because it's pretty simple to use and the SEO plugins mean I don't have to do too much work (not really an SEO so the smallest time i have to spend working on that the better)

Drupal is powerful, but fairly complicated.
Joomla i dont' really like to much, it's really sluggish and slow to load.

If you want a community site (profiles etc..) then it's probably worth trying to get to grips with Drupal IMO

 

The main thing I'm looking for is an easy to use CMS that will allow me to easily modify site navigation, ability to set up article headings and subheadings, easy SEO optimization, automatically creates rss feeds, and automatically generates a sitemap.

DT Centrepiece 4 does most of that. I think DT Centrepiece 3 used to create an automatic sitemap, but version 4 doesn't... But it's great for articles, it's search-engine-friendly, and easy to set up. It comes with an Access database which you can upsize to SQL. DT Centrepiece 4 has registration, and user activation, too.

 

I had the same problem about a year ago I wanted to really get and stick with one CMS. I still play around with a few of them but I have found great flexibility with DRUPAL. The learning curve is steep and if you are trying to keep a blog or something I wouldn't go this route.

I agree.

This is my experience but there are so many great smaller ones visit Elgg.org for a nice one with easy community integration. Even the Noserub network looks like it is shaping up to become a nice little CMS.
