Suggestions for a website based on articles

If I were to do something like the above, do you think that I would be ok with WP and as the layout could be fairly simple with pages with an article and one or two columns for ads and links, what template would you use?

Thanks, I am just starting to think about a project.

    Any help appreciated! :)

I am doing the same with HTML i.e. only articles and ads between the paragraphs.

Doing with Wordpress would be more easier and Good :)
Placing a 2 column Template would be a good option

BTW what type of articles are you going to put?

    Thanks for your prompt reply!

I am not sure what kind of articles yet, probably articles related to the subject of website I own or manage, at least for a start. But open to anything if it works decently.

WP would exactly be because I know it and it would be easy, and I am not fond of CMSs as Mambo, Drupal etc, nor do I intend to build a community around that website.

So you are planning on putting ads between articles, I was thinking of putting them in a column to the right and others at the end.

I am not sure where to put the contextual and the affiliate ads.

What do WMs normally use in similar projects?

Any hints on which templates at all?

If you are a little more experienced, I would suggest Joomla. All the ads are placed in automatically, and you can EASILY say what pages not to put the ads on. I have it where the ads automatically appear in the articles, and I spread each article out to 2 - 3 pages. In joomla, that's as easy as pressing a button. Anyway, I hope this helps. Good Luck.

    Yes, it sure does.

I'll look into Joomla, as I should have anyway because it's one of the main CMS that I haven't tried yet. A bit late too! :)

    Thanks very much! :)

if you are looking for FREE solution, then I think Joomla is pretty decent, but if I am not wrong, articledash.com has their own FREE script for article directories, you may try that as well..

    cheers
