I think this is the most appropriate forum?!

Anyway, I need some suggestions for improving my forum which has been running over a year (with a few months of being offline in the middle!). The address is www.psnfriends.net

    I need suggestions to improve:

    a) Appeal to new users - get more users and get them to post
    b) Revenue generation - generates nothing at the moment

And just any general suggestions you might have.

I've just introduced subscriptions where people pay a small monthly fee if they want and they get access to arcade, gallery and the ads go but no one has taken that up yet (a couple may soon). Can anyone think of any other sub features which would make it more worthwhile for my subs?

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

You have to drive traffic first. Then you can think of putting
some google adsense or banner advertisement :)

Priority is more getting sign ups than revenue at the moment - the revenue would just be a bonus.

At the moment I'm getting about 1,000 unique visitors a month with quite a bit of traffic coming from Google (3rd for "psn" - playstation network) but I hardly get any new sign ups or at least signups that post!

Given the demographic I would suggest a custom gaming theme of some sort. I suspect you are losing alot of folks because its a standard SMF template and a bit boring. You have to remember you are largely dealing with a younger demographic. You need something that will catch their eye.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

you have to give monetary incentive to your members so that they'll be loyal to you. Another long-term option is offering practical guides and informative material in your forum.
