    Advertising (learn more)

    Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

    Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

    I was recently a convert to Firefox... I only usually used it for designing but now its my default browser - unless some sites demand IE.

    But tcoming to he point of my post... - I've installed the adblocker and I've blocked every ad - even adsense from all my favourite sites.

    What do you think is the consequence of software like this propagating and growing in the future? People would simply block advertising and hence limit our incomes? and the incomes of all other sites?

    If worst come to worst and let's say 90% of people start doing this then we will revert back to a "Member's only" community for most websites. Websites need to generate revenue from somewhere. If they can't get it from advertising, then the visitors will have to pay to have access to the content.

    Luckily that's not very likely to happen.

    Those systems have been around for years... 99.9% of the people don't care... Even people technically inclined (like myself) don't care. Even though I could modify my local hosts file to resolve pagead2.googlesyndication.com to 127.0.0.1 (and never get an AdSense ad without having to install anything).

    They don't bug me, so not even worth the 5 seconds it would take to do it as far as I'm concerned... {shrug}

    So I guess, in the end people don't give a damn.

    Just like radio stations still exist even when cars nowadays have CD players and many people having walkmans/ipods/CD players etc...
