I personally cannot vote (yet). I do swear but like it when people don't. I also think that I shouldn't do so myself. I do have a problem with self-righteous people who try to make others feel bad for expressing themselves in an unconsored manner. I am also a Christian and don't think that swearing is doing anybody any good (sorry, Summer, I have to say it ;) ) .

One thing I do believe in is free will :

You do not earn credit with God or people by simply following rules that you have no choice in following.

If you want to swear, do so (between you and God) and if you don't: be blessed for deciding not to.

This is not about pleasing people because people will always fail you.

These are just my own opinions, given to the best of my knowledge.

    Well put ST,

We as Christians are always supposed to lead by example, one problem though, we are human ;)

I have two areas that I fail miserably... one is swearing and the other is controlling my temper. I work hard, with the Lord's strength everday, to try to make sure that everyday I get better. When I fail, I am forgiven, but that does not give me an excuse or a free ride. Someday I will be judged for all the decisions I have made...

Mella, you're not mocking the Christians are you? Shame on you. It's ok for them to stick their beliefs in anyone's face who dare not agree with their version of the bible and morality, but you mustn't ever mock them.

Don't you understand they have God on their side. You know the same God that George Bush is killing all those Iraqs for the glory of.

    I detect sarcasm.

But, I wasn't mocking anyone. I might be a bitch, but I would never mock another persons belief or faith.

(How dare you insinuate such a thing, Compy. :p)

I was just singing the only hymm I know. :(

Interesting choice of songs Minstrel. Isn't that the song the American Blacks sang when they where fighting the segregation and second class citicizenship that had been imposed upon them by many of the Christian churhes in the USA. "Hell I can show you right in the bible where it says that the Black man is inferior."

If the bible can "teach" that then it just isn't my source for moral instruction and leadership.

It's a freedom song, Bob -- a song about overcoming oppression and striving for freedoms -- freedom of speech, freedom of beliefs, freedom to be who you are or want to be as long as you're not trampling on the rights of someone else, etc.

Many people find a great deal of comfort and guidance in their religions. Why disparage that? Perhaps it doesn't work for you -- one would hope you have been able to find something else that does work for you, and I would hope that others don't disparage your right to do that, either.

There is no single religion or race or political or social or sexual orientation that has a corner on bigotry or intolerance.

    Just let it go.

I'm reading the Bible at the moment, and I havent found any justification for racial segregation -- other than the obvious Old Testament "Jews are God's chosen race" stuff that Jesus says "nuh uh" to, and tells his disciples to convert the gentiles.

I don't think the Bible tells us not to swear. When Jesus tells us 'what comes out of our mouths is unclean', I believe he's referring to things like slander and blasphemy, and evil words against your neighbour. He's DEFINITELY talking about it as in 'it comes from the heart' - so if I say "g'day mate, how the fuck are ya??!" to a friend I haven't seen in a while - that's not unclean at all. It's from the heart, expressing how much I care for someone. Lots of other examples in that vein. Likewise swearing in frustration is just venting - there's no "evil lurking in my heart" when I cuss because my code won't compile, I'm just annoyed.

If, however, I say "your mother's a f***ing b**ch", then I'm using those words to deliberately hurt and offend someone -- which goes against what Jesus was teaching.

Having said that, I don't mind if someone chooses not to swear -- all power to them for standing by their beliefs. I do object to censorship though. Ok so Aubrey's example was probably a bad example of censorship since she had to read that passage in school, and I wouldn't blame someone for doing that. However, she chose to use that as an example here and now, a long time later, as to what's the "right thing to do", to which I respectfully disagree.

If you would use the language in an old folks home, then how bad could it be... I can pretty much assure you, that unless you have problems you wouldn't curse and swear in front of your friends grand parents, SO, why not there but everywhere else?

Dude, I curse everywhere pretty much

I learned to curse from my grandfather,

I like unprofessional, I like casual. I have long hair, tattoos, I wear shorts and sneakers every day.

I don't troll forums for clients, the only really business I conduct on forums, is an occasional link swap or link buy/sale

One of the reasons I like this forum is becasue you can talk shit, say fuck and do whatever.

On most other SEO forums its like a bullshit contest on who can pretend they are most professional SEO. People can create some sort of marketing presence, or try to market their crap sites thru their sig. Its so corny for the most part.

At least in my humble opinion
