Targeted ads Fading Away........?

I don't know if it's just me, I doubt that is just me but I used to have very, very targeted ads in relation to my site, for a very long time infact and averaged a good 2-4 hundred clicks a day on any given site..Now I find that the ads are still generally in the right topic, but not really targeted as they used to be and had been for about a year - I know I should use the code to tell adsense where to start and stop, but going through all those sites is going to be a nasty chore that I havnt had neither time nor courage to do yet.

My question is why the change if it was doing so well for so long? If Google took half the cut off one of the sites, they could pay a years salary for a general worker with that half, so why change it? Has anyone noticed a change?

I haven't noticed any change in targeting. Maybe some of the advertisers ads that you were getting discontinued them.

    Thanks for the response-

Yeah I thought about that and seems that most of the advertisers are still on, but with other campaigns and different ad copy - I just thought of it now, and it really could be it.

I am in Korea right now and the ads that show up for me may be different from the ads that show up on my sites that are targeted towards US users. I guessing that that is the case - I havn't noticed a drop in my overall CTR so I guess it's all good. I was just wondering about why I was seeing ads that were generally vague but still related-

Well, if your site gets USA visitors, they should get USA ads, so your location should not be an issue.

My experience is the opposite: I got more targeted ads over the past year, I guess it's just the market changing. My experience with telling google what the page is about is that it doesn't really work. You may want to try it on some of your real popular pages, but other than that, google usually knows what it's doing. In this case: you know that google knows what the pages are about: it got you great ads before. So changing the pages specifically for that seems redundant.

Only if you have content on your pages pages that does not fit the tone of the content could sectioning be expected to make a bit of difference.
