I have just created my first blog and have incorporated Google Ads into it. I was wondering if I need to make any changes and if you might have any tips for a Google AdSense newbie...

The topics are topics that interest me. Cars, Technology, Web & Graphic Design, Gadgets & Gizmo's... Is that to many topics for one blog?

Yes. Your time would be much better spent dedicated to one topic where you could potentially become popular and authoritive. Otherwise you are spreading your blog to thin.

i have since years a most successful blog, high traffic, high CTR, high eCPM ( ctr+ecpm both 2 digits ).
and i have some 15+ categories
and i make more new categories every now and then.
hence there never are too many categories as long as you know what you write, love what you do as an editor and as long as your articles are of use to at least a share of the global www users. there are millions of different interests and each category may cater to a smaller or greater interest group. provided that each and every post has its individual SEO and thus gets a high SERPS - each single post independent of category will attract new generic visitors that also may find interest in some of your other posts/topics as well.
