The Arizona Monsoon

I don't start many threads... this may be my third or so, but I wanted to share last night's thunderstorm with you.

Others from other parts of the world, what do you think about my story (I'm not much of a writer) and of the Arizona Monsoon?

I'm in arizona.. unfortunately it storms what.. 13 days a year here? I count down the minutes till it's over

 

Arizona monsoons are one of the most beautiful meteorological events a person could ever hope to experience. With their blustery winds and gorgeous skyscapes that accompany the warm, spotty showers, and thunderous cloud bursts, the monsoons are just one of the many faces of beauty that the Arizona desert displays through-out the year.

Although there are times in the deadly 120' heat of summer that a person might be drawn to ponder the relationship between the arid air of Arizona, and the volcanic, sulfuric climate of hell, during these monsoons Arizonans are reminded that in fact, Arizona is really more like Heaven.

In other words - "Arizona Rocks!"

 

Sorry to go a bit sideways but talking about the wonder of the nature, how about the northern light? I am from Scotland which is one place you can see the NL, though I never did there. I saw them on a plane flying over Alaska and I´ll never forget it. Yes the Northern lights were stunning but I was on the side of the plane to see them. The pilot must have thought most peeps were sleeping and said Ïf you look out the right side now you will see...

One hundred heavy footed travellers stamped to the right side and the plane did a dip I´ll never forget. Yes, the NL were beautiful. All the more so because I thought it was the last thing I´d ever see

I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights, I hear that they are just beautiful.

 

Yep... Arizona Rocks! It is the most diverse place I've ever been. With our deserts, our canyons, our forests, our caverns, our red rocks in Sedona and snowboarding only a few hours drive away from Phoenix and sooooo much more!

I definately look forward to the Monsoon every year. With only 7 inches of annual rainfall, most who have lived here have an infinity for rain! Unlike living back east or in the north western US, those folks are always sick of rain. I LOVE A GOOD RAIN SHOWER!!!!!!!! Just wish I didn't have to fix my roof after the Monsoon. Fact is, the desert here is so hot, that when the high cloud tops with their freezing cold air and rain meet the desert temperatures, there is going to be a severe reaction.

Either way, I wouldn't change a thing (except maybe a few extra storms each season), I love our Monsoon.

 

Arizona is great! I wish I could move there...I was made for warm weather. DAMN FAMILY!


One of my friends has a house on Tucson nat'l. and we go there every other year or so. I shot a 72 on the gold/green course. That course has really made me a better golfer.

 

that's indeed an awesome photo. anyway, by the way i see it, it seems like it is really nice there. and i would love to experience that arizona monsoons.
