An increase of registrations, or more clicks?

I also suggest changing things up a bit every now and then, because a forum is mostly made up of the same people over and over, so they become "ad-blind" very quickly.

increase in clicks when using spx CPM banners, google gets me 51 (with 45k impression) click as max per day and that makes $10 and some times lower.

You're getting more clicks when you turned off ads for registered users? Btw, very nice forum!

I don't know about that - I consistently have some 60-70 visitors in addition to my members, and stats show that about 90% of users are first-time visitors. I rank fairly well in Google and get a lot of traffic to posts etc. So I think most of my Adsense income in my forums comes from guests.

I show the same ads to members and non-members (apart from popups which are served once to non-members) so I don't really have a way to measure which...it just occured to me that I could create different channels depending on whether a user is logged in or not...

Yes, I definitely noticed an increase by making my ads for guests only.

    Thanks for the compliment! :)

Your registered members are very prone to ad blindness, this is very common on message boards since you have a large amount of repeat visitors. They see the ads so much they just start ignoring them.

By making the ads for guests only you're much more likely to increase your CTR because the guests aren't as prone to ad blindness.

That is absolutely ludicrous. A guest wouldn't know if the members can see it or not, thus meaning that you have the guests + the few members who aren't 'ad blind'. With the ads gone completely for the members, you only have he guests seeing the ads.

I think we're having some sort of miscommunication here.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with guests not knowing if members can see the ads or not and what that has to do with anything.

All I know is this... making my ads visible for guests only has resulted in a noticeable increase in my CTR and earnings.

This is a pretty good thread and where I got the idea to make my adsense ads for guests only. Perhaps this will explain it better than I have.
