Instagram is a personal favorite, but it depends on what you're into, and what your goals are (if you're using social networks for your business or marketing purposes.) Other great social networks are Facebook, Pinterest, SnapChat, Twitter, Google+, Reddit, LinkedIn, Tumblr, and even Youtube (kind of).

 

It's Instagram for me as well! However, Instagram absolutely is frustrating. There are endless articles about how to grow your following quickly, but very few of the tactics seem to work (most likely due to the sheer volume of people using them now). The key to reaching 18k active and loyal followers thus far has honestly been consistency and bucketloads of patience. There is no quick answer, but people spend more time on Instagram than they do on twitter and pinterest combined!
To me, it seems worth the hassle. Especially now that having that audience is paying off for my brand/ site.

 

Awesome, thanks for your lists. The thing with 2017 is...I am sure that I have read in 2 or 3 places that the largest driver of traffic will be overwhelmingly "video". Unfortunately, I went into photography for many years and discounted video ever coming close to the possibilities that simple images allow...well, I am eating those words every day. Apps are so darn powerful, I remember watch some guys in a video production shop working with AVID and Video Toaster. A $1.99 app isn't either of those, but with tools getting better, the platforms for marketing and selling mainstream, costs lower....more things than I can thing about...I can just edit "good enough" on my iphone. I was a photography purist at one point, so I expect that life is dealing me a dose of karma...

The only that don't have open video access (meaning anyone can browse without signing up for an account) are Reddit, Quora, and LinkedIn...right? I was thinking on putting together a submit video IFTTT recipe that would allow me to post one blog entry for video, and have the recipe post to the other accounts, but I am not real good at daisy-chaining recipes, do any of you have a script or recipe will do that? If I had the money, I would probably go back to Zapier or Dlvrit. I like the UI on those much better than Hootsuite, and Onlywire, the only reason I would ever consider paying for that is because they have a newsvine submit, but I don't need that really these days.

For your social lists, do you use something to assist you in managing them? Specifically to manage photo and video on them?

I would say Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and MANY people are sleeping on Instagram! I have seen a lot of good business made solely from Instagram alone. Facebook bought IG so it's implementing a lot of its systems for marketing through that app as well.
